Nice to see the before shots of "Car 17" at the docks.
How did the joker who put it together expect anyone to believe such a story? If the band-aids on the side weren't tacky enough, how about the slushbox transmission, XC side front indicator lenses, blue police light in the wrong place on the dash, tripple instruments in the dashboard, etc as the list goes on.
Peter's reference along the lines that "it's almost certainly a fake" is too kind - in fact, the bonnet & grill aside, the car looked better as an XC road car.

Excellent work in posting the Before/After shots ... just how dumb do we think we are? ... let me rephrase that ... My prediction for the new millenium is that 'genuine' interceptors will be as common as pieces of the true cross
If it weren't for this site and other 'lesser' sites he'd probably have got away with it. See ... the internet is good for something!
To digress for a moment ... I noticed that the MFP station wagon is actually an MBF station wagon ... here in Aus that's 'Medical Beneifits Fund' a health insurance company! I'd love to know the story.

The cost of the film processing, scanning & emailing the shots of the MBF / MFP wagon would have exceeded the vehicle's actual value!
What's the deal with the roof - it's absence in the middle is on par with it's body rigidity. Looks very much like a tow-away, there is no way that thing could be legally driven on the roads.
Looks like there are two methods of building MM replicas - those painted up in MFP colours because the car is on it's last legs (nothing to lose), and worth next to nothing; and those turned into replica masterpieces (costing a fortune).

"Car 17" WOULD make a decent starting point for building an Interceptor.
Some body work & the correct spoilers...
Unfamilliar with the term "Slushbox" transmission.. I'm assuming this is some model of trans that is... Not desirable? (As well as incorrect)
Well, a transmission swap isn't the EASIEST thing int he world, but it ain't that hard to do.
As long as the car runs & Drives good, the seller wants a REASONABLE price for it and part of the work/parts is already done/in place I'd buy it.
Claiming it's really a car used in the movie, though.. As far as I'm concerned, that's attempted fraud.

"Go ahead and run. Run home and cry to mama! Me, I'm Through runnin'!"

A slushbox is a derogatory term for an Automatic gearbox (transmission). it's used most often I've found by people who dislike Autos. I generally always refer to the Slushbox in my XB as a Slushbox & I can't wait until I replace it with a manual & beat it to death with a BFH.

I'd think it being called a Girlie box would hurt more than a Slushbox...since if you shake it...it makes a slushing noise
But they shouldn't get pissy cause if you're drag'n with loads of torque, you're gonna want both hands on the wheel not shifting...
Anyway, I love this Car 17...its always a good laugh...yet somewhat painful since it could easily be converted to a decent replica.
