Interceptor -- destination USA

Just a short note to say that the "Washington" Pursuit special Interceptor replica as seen at http://www.geocities.com/Mad_Max_Parts/1build.html

Is now on the way to the USA, following its three months in storage as the new owner (Policeman John Sattia) waited for his new house to be completed. Destination USA began today.

Although the replica was covered by a "road transportation" permit for its last trip in Australia. The gleaming Black on Black warrior interceptor had an uneventful trip with no sign of Police.

This mornings drive put the Interceptor right into the commuting work-a-day traffic, 5.8 liters of unrestricted engine and exhaust howling through the sleepy 6:00 am morning shuffle. It is always a somber trip as we farewell these legend cars and today was no different. Perth was swept with a warm summer breeze and marinated in a brilliant summer morning sun as living image of Australia's greatest movie car soaked into its black skin its last rays of the Australian summer sun.

It is always strange to think that a car that started out almost 30 years ago, will see out its days on the other side of the globe, and in Fame.

The temp in Perth today is 35 deg C and tomorrow will be 40 deg C, so the replica will get toasted in the container before the freezing awaiting when it lands in Baltimore USA in about 6 weeks time.

I hope you guys in the USA get to catch up with it as John gets out and about in the Summer of 2003.

Cheers

Gordon

Congrats.

One departs on the same day as another arrives... that is way cool.
