Fury Road-Transcendental Progression
Thinking...Fury Road .....and pondering the implications. Frankly , the promise could not be better.
Mad means "a disorder in mind completely unrestrained by reason and judgment " or "carried away by intense anger"
Fury means an "intense, disordered, and often destructive rage" or "an avenging spirit" and "extreme fierceness or violence"
The base-word fury has roots in "any of the avenging deities (gods) in Greek mythology who torment criminals and inflict plagues "
Being carried away by intense anger is one thing. In fact ,intense anger doesn't necessarily suggest or imply action. While fury, a destructive rage, has a whole new meaning. I see the new title as promise to a higher level of excitement in Max's world.
Road is the second word, not 'wasteland', not 'world', not some other title like "MM: Wheel of Pain" ,"MM: Circle of Vagueness", or "MM: Our Lady of Perpetual Motion" . Road is the key word here. Road takes us to the roots which spawned the Max who became Mad. Roads have little value without a mode of transportation, vehicles.
Miller's choice of title tells us that Max will encounter a new world with parallels to the old, where he is still enlisted to 'Maintain Right' in some sense. Great tragedy will befall him to set the stage for a fierce avengement , the likes of we have never seen. And the stage will be set on the Road.
I say we are in for a $104,000,000.00 whitelined nightmare.
When we think of the Toecutter chase scene or Max's fleeing from the compound, both could easliy be called Fury Road.
Some may think it cheesy. Those cynics are selling Miller's talent short. George Miller is a studier, a muller, and brooder. His interests do not lye in money as much as in quality product. We've waited 17 years for the return of our hero. Miller could have cashed in this francise years ago and made millions if he wanted to 'sell-out'.
$104M means his commitment level is enormous and it is a testiment to the film's integrity . I expect the quality to be pristine.
What does Fury Road imply to you...Wastelander?

One would hope that in keeping with the title of the movie "Fury Road" is what the movie will be about.
MadMax... the movie follows the demise of Max into one of those" terminal crazies"
The Road Warrior.. We see him at his best on the road.... (Max isnt one to be around people no more)... hence his willingness to get them their "Rig"...and his eagerness to leave the compound once the truck is delivered.... Once his method of transport is gone...ie his beloved Interceptor ,is gone he again volanteers to drive the truck.. because he has no choice.. that is what he does best.
Beyond Thunderdome.... (Calling it... Beyond Bartertown would raise eyebrows.. What the?!? )... While Max's character changed in this movie .... we can still follow the title for some hints... Thunderdome was the last straw for Max i believe... which is why he didnt kill "Blaster"... a dose of reality hit him.... what had he/we become??... Taking those annoying kids beyond the reaches of Thunderdome was his mission there.. the kids were still somewhat civilazied (though really annoying..haha)...
Fury Road..... This is my theory alone... having MM3 turned "Hollywood" somwhat... i think this one will also be somewhat "Hollywood" as well... but maybe a mix of MM2 and MM3. Max is going somewhere i believe in this film.... going to his place in the sun.. he wants out... out of the wasteland...... (rememeber.. Mel Gibson is 47 (?) years old now.. so i doubt there will be no MM5 !)... I think the plot will be about how Max gets to where he wants to go...
We are 100% snafu....

I think it's the fact that "fury" has been overused with less than stellar results that sours me on the name. I certainly have great expectations, I'm sure Dr. Miller won't let us down. Even though BTD is generally regarded as the lesser of the films (sorry Uncle) it is by no means a crappy movie. It's probably even a great movie. Really, regardless of subject matter, has Miller ever made a BAD movie? I think not. (maybe Witches of Eastwick, but that's the studio's fault.)
I recall at sometime in the past, Miller saying he had gone back and looked at many "road" movies to see which had become dated, which were still fresh, and why. So as to incorperate the positive elements into his "next" project. And what do you get? Fury Road!
Also, take a look at other popular film franchises, how many have retained the same writer/director for all installments? ummm, none! Lucas let go of Star Wars, Spielberg let go of Jurrasic Park, Cameron let go of Terminator, Aliens has been all over the map. Mad Max will continue to be the brainchild of Dr. Miller, now into it's 4th installment. this alone is something to rejoice about.
That alone (and Gibson's personal desire to be involved) implies to me that Fury Road will be a winner. I simply can't contain myself!

As long as we're not walking in the wake of your flatulence... How 'bout Sicilian virginity? I always wanted to meet a nice girl from Palermo.
I'd like a somewhat cerebral flick instead of an out and out action picture. Mood and look are everything to me, storyline and character development are important too. Action alone doesn't cut it for me, unless you set everything aside and have a taste for Die Hard, etc. For this series, vehicles are very important. They are characters as much as the human actors. Don't tell me the Interceptor and the landau don't have fan clubs.
Anybody heard of this Pound guy, the set designer/artistic director/whatever? Supposedly had a lot of input on the look of the new movie. Have to search for him on the web...
