Hummm,
You sure on the gas millage there, that would give my XB a range of about 3K's to a tank & given the fact that my quadrajet carby if blowing most of the fuel straight out of the exaust I'm surprised I make it up the driveway at all.

On my video I show film looking out across the hood (and blower) of my Interceptor at 5900 RPM with the 3:00 to 1 diff and 295 X 50 X 15 T/A's this is @160 MPH @260 KPH.
At that speed it is getting about 5 miles per the old (US liquid) gallon. That is a whooping 20 Gallons (75.6 lt) per 100 miles
It would average 8 MPG at 100 MPH. That is about 12.5 gallons per 100 miles
When out for a thrash at the local racetrack it was getting an ecomomy of about 4 miles per gallon, so about 25 gallons per 100 miles.
In highway cruising @60 MPH I could get about 20 to 23 miles per gallon, so that is about 5 to 5.5 gallons per 100 miles. So you can see the drastic change when the foot went down.
The cylinder head design of the Cleveland leaves about 5% of the fuel unburnt, or so I heard, not sure if that is true but it sounds about right, the combustion chamber of a 30 plus year old engine design would be fairly average.
We pay about $4:00 AUD (BP 98 octaine) for a single US gallon of fuel, that is about $2.20 US dollars per Gallon. The averge Australian brings home about $400 to $500 Aussie dollers per week.
Out of interest what do you UAS guys pay for the following:
Gallon of Milk @ $5:00 AUD
Can of Coke (375 mil) @ $ 1.50 AUD
Basic brand name DVD player @ $ 350 -400 AUD, but cheapo ones can be about $250 AUD
Loaf of bread @ $ 2.50 AUD
CD @ 27-30 AUD
DVD @ 30-35 AUD.
"BIG Cleveland cruise up and down highway .. and SUCK bulk juice".
Cheers
Gordon.

Hi .
If I get a few quite minutes at work I get on the internet and have a look at what is happening. So I make it every few weeks or so.
I never get to the Internet message boards after work because that is when we work on the replicas, or perhaps answer other mail, I also tend to answer e:mail during my lunch hour.
Anyhow summer is comming in Perth, we are going on the "All Ford day" cruise on Sunday. Nope not in an Interceptor (sob, sob) but in my Police acceptable "normal" XB coupe.
I am still doing a bit for work towards my big block replica, put the diff back in last week and the front seal leaked, (the joy of motoring) so I pulled the diff back out again last night. I will change the seal Saturday.
We hope to have the engine back in and running by Christmas. (slim chance, this project is low on cash so I still have not got a carbie and inlet manifold sorted out). At this stage it is still a stock bodied car, we are going to get it machanicaly sorted first, then it will come back off the road for the cosmetic MAX treatment. I divert a few dollars and time when I can so I don't expect the car to be a true replica for about a year yet.
My "normal" coupe is also comming off the road next week for a couple of weeks, chucking away the C4 and in goes the top loader, a new inlet manifold dual plain (this is a long distance cruiser, so no single plain drag manifold for this car. I fitted the long range tank a few months ago), it is also getting a [/font]twin head light GT grill, HUGE radiator and twin thermo fans.
Then of course we are still ploding along with the Yellow 4 door and Black 2 door "budget" replica build-ups.
Lots of things to do.
Cheers

Cut those prices in half (for the currancy conversion) and you're right about where are prices are at. Except fuel (not counting California) we pay an average $1.50 a gallon, and a cheepo DVD player can be had for $75-90 (but thats a CHEAPO machine)
