Hi to all you guys making the trip to Broken Hill.

Just in case you are not all aware, but I expect most of you are!

Please be sure to call in and see the pictures from the Mad Max 2 movie shoot on display in the Silverton pub. One picture worth a look (if you look closely) actually shows the two Interceptors together.

Should you need any directions to any of the near-by locations either Chris or Jo owners of the Silverton Hotel I am sure will be pleased to assit in any way they can.

Cheers

Gordon.

Just to let people know so there is no confusion, most of the events are being held in Broken Hill itself and not Silverton. (check the back to the max web site schedule), but by all means if you get time check out the Pub it has some great pic's.

confusion??? Not at all ., Myself,,having been a part of the filming of Mad Max 2,,will not miss the opportunity to rekindle the the fire, lit when watching the carnage being spread all over the mundi mundi road (maybe if I fall from the back of my friends ute, drunk , it may all come flashing back?)

I agree with XTRA, a couple of miles on from the Silverton pub is the mundi mundi plain. The mundi mundi plain is a must see for any Mad Max fan. That magnificent overhead shot of the Interceptor heading into the purple storm sky is from the top of the hill looking across the mundi mundi. This is one of Australian most famous (thanks to Mad Max 2- and "Pricilla") panoramic locations.

And just an awesome desert view.

For those of you who read the "Pilgrimage" story on my site, the mundi mundi lookout is the place I described as I sat and watched the desert night fall, I was in my interceptor way back in 1984.

You absolutely must see this place.

And if I ever get that video on my interceptor edited this is the line I attribute to the view.

"For those of you who will come from Europe / America, don't go looking for Australia in any one of those five teaming sores that are stuck out on the coast, and don't go looking for it in any of those American look-a-like in-land towns either. Because it's out there... Australia is out there ..somewhere in the swirling red dust".

If you're looking for photos, also be sure to drop by the Legion Club in Broken Hill. They would have to have hands down some of the best pictures from the film that I've ever seen.

Hey Blower belt, xtra,

The silverton Pub sounds great if you get the time, but most of us are mixing it with best at the Musician club Friday and saturday night, that 's where the real star's will be.You will get to see the guy's who portrayed your hero's in person.

Is the Silverton Pub far from where all the scheduled events are being held. Its along way to come to miss seeing everything but I believe the scheduled events come first.

Anyone know why the pub hasnt been included in the scheduled events, was it insurance hassles?

Hi.

The Silverton Pub is apparently holding a B-B-Q all day Sunday, so Sunday afternoon looks like a good time for a visit.

I believe that there are other festivities on at the PUB as well, if you are in costume you might like to stay that way because there are prizes for the best dressed look-a-like.

Silverton is about 30 Km from Broken Hill, and not a bad drive into the start of the "outback" but beware you can't just fly out there and back as although the road is sealed, there are quite a few dips in the road as it goes over old creeks.

But between the Mad Max heritage of the area, the Pubs pictures, and that awesome mundi mundi plain it is worth a trip.

As the hill goes down toward the plain you pass the spot that Max screamed the interceptor to a halt, (past the Mac truck) a little further on is where the Mac truck crashed into Papagallo, and then crashed into the dirt. Also one version of the video cover has a shot of Max and Dog walking down center of the road on this hill.

The opening scenes where Max looks in his mirrors just before Wes get's the arrow in the arm are also shot on the corner after the hill descends to the plain.

Like I said a must see location.

It also seems that there are in fact two Mad Max related events on, both on the same weekend. They don't appear to overlap so in fact one should complement the other, if you are offered "main course and desert", you might as well have both![/font]
