I have seen the different Interceptors in the "real or replica" section of this web site, and I cought that Michael Rennie's car has a hood/bonnet that is different to the one one Grant's car, I was wondering which of these is correct, or if they are both wrong?

I think the one on Grants interceptor is the closest, but not exactly. I don't really know though, that's my guess from the pictures he sent me and the car in the movie. His hood scoop is a little bigger than mike's, and it looks really close to the real thing.

J.C. Whitney's catalog had some after market bonnet /hood scoops that looked correct - I believe they were common on mid 70's (coke bottle) Corvettes and Camaros. The basic design is still available. Regs, Steve

Look at this top pic of the interceptor.

See how the hood/bonnet looks all connected together, while Grant's dosen't. He also sent me a few cool pics, but none that you could clearly see the area we are talking about. I don't think either of them are right. Oh and did anyone else notice that with the change of Blowers, from MM1 to RW, there was also a change of hoods/bonnets, in the first movie there was a little piece like a little ramp going up to the blower, in the second its all flat but with a sideways and sort of rounded V, look at these.

ok the bonnet scoop on mikes is correct for the film, who ever put it on, did not fit it correctly, you can spread the the back in or out with this type of scoop and who ever did that one spread it out. and this flattened it.

In examining the full aspect ratio laserdisc in the scene where the fellow on the radio says "That's what hurts - it's one of our V8's" while Max is putting on his holster, we can see the hood is still up and one can get an excellent view of the hood and scoop from the back. On careful examination of this and other scenes, it damn sure looks like a Corvette L-88 cowl induction aftermarket scoop with a custom bit of cutting and notchwork in the front in a triangular shape that when the entire unit is bogged/frenched in with filler seamlessly to the rest of the hood makes it appear to be a third hood scoop in the center when viewed from the front.
