George Miller confirms that Furiosa is set 15 years before Fury Road, but NOT that Furiosa takes place 45 years after the apocalypse (as claimed by the trailer).

I thought that Fury Road was 45 years after the apocalypse.

Indeed.
That trailer messed it up.

Re: George Miller speaks about the Furiosa/Fury Road timeline
"The coastal cities have been razed and the gangs have marauded across the landscape like locusts. It's Australia 50 years after the apocalypse"
George said this in an interview before Fury Road was released.
He also brushed off the timeline in a interview after Fury Road was released by saying "The apocalypse happens next Wednesday"

Yeah. But it must have been a progressive "apocalypse" anyway, otherwise you cannot make Max's age match with the events.

Re: George Miller speaks about the Furiosa/Fury Road timeline
I was so hyped to hear George Miller say that they paid a lot of attention to the timeline for Furiosa when he was introducing the trailer at CCXP.
And then they messed it up again LOL.
I think in GM's mind the apocalypse happens 45 years from now regardless of the story he's telling in those new Mad Max films.
But if so...
WHY INTRODUCE DATES AT ALL?
We know Fury Road takes place 33 years after 'the fall' because they literally tattooed it on Max's back.
Furiosa's story leads into Fury Road so she couldn't have been kidnapped from the Green Place 45 years after the fall. That would mean her story begins 12 years AFTER Fury Road
I don't understand how they could mess up such a simple thing especially because it doesn't cost them anything to fix! Literally it costs them nothing, you just have to sit down for a second and change literally one number.
Just change '45 years after the fall' to '18 years after the fall'.
Now check out how everything falls perfectly into place:
18 years after the fall young Furiosa gets kidnapped from the Green Place. 18 years after the fall is enough for the Green Place to be established and raise Furiosa that'd be about 10-13 years old at the time of kidnapping.
So 18 years after the fall she gets kidnapped. Then her story spans over the course of 15 years and leads right into Fury Road.
18+15=33 years after the fall she meets Max in Fury Road.
There you go! That's all you have to do!
George Miller if you're reading this, change that one thing and you're good.
No need for this perpetual '40 years since Wednesday' to keep it vague and mythical when you can fix the whole thing by changing one number.
You're welcome

Well, one solution: Furiosa is an alternate universe.
