OK, well the "Furiosa" trailer that dropped today just created even more massive problems for whichever version of the Mad Max universe's timeline and continuity you happen to believe in.

The pre-existing problem had been that in "Fury Road," Tom Hardy was a 38-year old actor playing Max, who tells us in his opening voice-over monologue that he had once been a cop.

So regardless of whether you think Fury Road was a standalone reboot or a sequel existing in the same timeline and continuity as the original Mad Max, Tom Hardy's character has to have been an adult prior to the fall of civilization because he was employed as a police officer by some type of government.

And that's a problem, because Fury Road soon states or implies that more than one generation of children has been born and grown to adulthood *after the apocalypse* at the time of Fury Road's events. So therefore Max should have been closer to 60 years old, and not Tom Hardy's 38.

Our problem is compounded by the fact that Charlize Theron was also 38 years old when she played Furiosa, yet her character had clearly been born and raised after the apocalypse, and thus by necessity had to be at least fifteen years younger than Max. Who had to have been about 60.

And now the timeline's problem just got much worse, because at the time of Furiosa's principle photography, Anya Taylor-Joy, the prequel Furiosa, was 26 years old.

And it looks like the Furiosa trailer is telling us her character's journey begins when she is kidnapped at the age of maybe 10 to 15 years old. And this kidnapping happened 45 years after the collapse of civilization!

So how the heck does Furiosa manage to be 10 to 15 years old FORTY FIVE YEARS after the apocalypse that destroyed the working government which could have employed Max as a police officer when he was in his early-to-mid twenties? Especially since Max and Furiosa were both played by 38-year old actors when the two characters met?

At this point, even having Max be 60 years old in Fury Road would not have preserved or fixed this timeline.

Maybe there is not thoroughly thought about the timeline when the story was written. But as can be seen in the old movies, the world has already collapsed at the time Max was a cop. He was a Cop at the outer part of the continent where civilization has remained somewhat intact. At the end of MM1 Max goes into the "prohibited area" where you already had those gangs and settlements what is shown in MM2. And that is just a few years later. This part of Furiosa might already be happening while Max was still a Cop.
Just my €0,02

Good trailer. Lets see what the movie will be like.
"UNDERSTEER" is when you hit the fence with the front of the car.
"OVERSTEER" is when you hit the fence with the rear of the car.
"HORSEPOWER" is how fast you hit the fence.
"TORQUE" is how far you take the fence with you.

My initial reaction:
I was shocked because of all the blatant CGI they used in the trailer. Almost every desert related shot looked flat and laughable fake.
This was a deep hit guys and it took me almost a full day to recover...

At the current state I am able to see some positive things:
Anya Taylor-Joy looks stunning as Furiosa. I really like her different outfits, especially her look with long hair and the black leather jacket.
As it seems she looses her arm later in the movie. I'm torn on Hemsworths character (...)

The poster also looks banger btw 8-)

Is Furiosa a new timeline? A third universe?
Because having the movie set 45 years after the Apocalypse makes no sense at all.

Read my FURY ROAD timeline. It was a very slow and progressive apocalypse... slower than its equivalent in the Original Mad Max Trilogy universe.
If you read my FURY ROAD timeline, there Hardy Max's age makes sense. The movie is set in 2060 AD.

Now, FURIOSA must be a third universe for sure.

To be frank I couldn't care less about the timeline and I'm not interested in numbers and dates.

Any opinions on the trailer itself ??

It's good, though not as well put together as either of the FR trailers.

CGI appears to be more obvious and extensive in Furiosa compared to FR, but I can understand that given the amount of world building GM is doing here. That said, the vehicle jumping the sand dune looked very CGI to me, and I'm left wondering why something like that couldn't have more easily been done for real (unless it was and it's just been overworked in post production). Anyway, we're still months out from release and I'm sure they're still working on the visual effects.

BTW, a 4K version of the trailer can be downloaded from digital-digest.com

Oh, and it appears I was right when I guessed last year that Lachy Hulme was playing Joe. However, Tom Burke's role remains somewhat of a mystery to me.
