I'm afraid that "Furiosa" could ruin the mystique and the charm of the Fury Road background, as well as Charlize's performance and beautiful story-arc.
What if "Furiosa" is an alternate universe which doesn't match with Fury Road anyway?
I'm just pretty much terrified about this movie. Fury Road should have been untouchable. IMHO.
Any chance "Furiosa" is an alternate universe?

Don't worry, Fury Road will be untouched because it's very hard to reach such perfection twice, even for a genius filmmaker like Miller.
FR is unique in its concept and execution and every sequel or prequel which follows will be compared to this masterpiece.
I don't think Furiosa is an alternate universe, it's simply the origin story of her with almost all the characters we already know from Fury Road.
I am hoping that George Miller is once again able to surprise us fans with unforgetable (new) characters and details of an expanding post-apocalyptic world or universe if you like. But I also share your concerns because I think the risk is very high that Furiosa can't match the sky-high expectations and will disappoint Mad Max fans.
BTW, are there any current news from the production of Furiosa in Australia ??
Is George well after he got Covid ?
Any news guys??
I hope Warner hasn't canceled the whole project

Everything's moving forward as planned. Just to clear things up - you will be hearing that they had wrapped from some people who had finished their part on the film, but the final wrap on the movie is still a long way from now. George Miller is also fine, so no worries there.
As far as comparing it to Fury Road
I'm not even sure if it's fair to measure it up to Fury Road, those two films are completely different when it comes to basic framework, apples to oranges. Of course there's action in both, far more in Fury Road, then again the scale in Furiosa is bigger... ehh, it's not fair to compare the two imo.
What you can be sure of is that Furiosa is going to be full of George Miller's trademark originality, both in the narrative as well as purely technical side of things.

My concern was about the story, not the execution. I'm just afraid that Furiosa, being a prequel, could ruin the mystique of Fury Road in terms of story and character-arcs.

Naw, it'll probably just enhance them.
Continuity was always loose in the original trilogy, but this new trilogy was conceived that way from the get go during FR long gestation period, so it will work as a triangle narrative, with hopefully The Wasteland done in the next few years (and probably another Mad Max actor too).

The continuity of the original trilogy is pretty solid anyway.Stamper wrote: ↑Thu Oct 13, 2022 10:25 pm Naw, it'll probably just enhance them.

Personally I'm hoping for a film with a completely different feel/theme, so much potential in the world of MM to have different kinds of stories told

The "45 years" thing could be a mistake related to the trailer, not the movie itself.
