After four years of limbo on my Goose bike project I have finally got my life straight enough to proceed. It's back in my garage and progressing. Today I made all the mounting holes for the accessories and got the tail section mounted. I still need to modify the lower section to get it off the exhaust pipes, but I feel like I'm getting ready for paint and powder coating.
Thank you for all the support I've gotten the last few years on this, especially Scott Horwood. I plan to be at RoadWar NW next year.

AMAZING so far! Glad to hear it is back on track. I always go to Roadwar NW, so can't wait to see this bike there! If you are around its the Saturday the 27th, it looks like it will be a good year to hang out even if the bike is not done yet.
In any case looks like a good build and going well. Kit and decals look like the Mad Max Cars stuff. Good call!

I got the parts back from the paint shop and I'm pretty happy with the results. Lots of stuff left to do before I'm ready to put it together, but this is a huge step forward.

Looks great. Will you also replace the exhaust with a movie correct crossed one? As far as I can see, yours are straight ones.

No, I'm happy enough with the exhaust pipes as they are. Just about everything I see out there for a '77 is 4 into 1 pipes. I like the standard 2 muffler look, which is also screen accurate-ish. I'm leaving the sound baffles in, because I enjoy my hearing.
I've tried to keep it faithful to the original, but a lot of compromises have to be made for different reasons. I made a conscious decision not to chrome it out too much, because I want to actually ride it and have it look like it's ridden. The mufflers even have some scrapes, how it would look after Goose laid it down.

I got looking into the 4 into 2 crossover exhaust. It seems like PMC in Japan was the last company to make the Jardine style crossover pipes that were likely the ones in the movie. PMC doesn't seem to offer them anymore and when they did they were pricey.
I've been working on this project 5 years now and it's already cost quite a bit more than I expected. I can definitely live with the straight pipes. I'm more disturbed by the tail section not being screen accurate, but that's what I could get. Trying to recreate a movie prop vehicle from another country over 40 years later has been a humbling experience.

We made a lot of progress this weekend on the build. No major issues moving forward.
Everything fit up and all electrical accessories worked. The radio plays the MFP radio Chatter mp3. I still have to fabricate some lower brackets, clean the rust out of the tank, and get some additional fasteners. It should be on the road come spring. Right now it's too wintery to do much with it here. I'm pretty happy to have got this far.
