Mcfarlane Toys doing Mad Max
Mcfarlane Toys doing Mad Max
I'm calling it, purely based off this figure review: https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=tVgQkhy1YNY and of course, The Batmobeast they released earlier. But also their proximity to Warner given they've got the DC license. Anyone know anything? My guess though is that they'll stick to the Furyverse, maybe leave the OG til later.

Re: Mcfarlane Toys doing Mad Max
Based on what I know from some insider infromation on WB and merchandising last the movie I honestly wouldn't hold my breath on them doing it. At least not for the new movie. We had NECA...FREAKING NECA make a bid to do toys and it went to funko pop people and this, I am told, was on purpose for two reasons. 1. to spit Miller due to production disputes and 2. Funko put in the lowest bid to do the toys and WB accepted it. We could have had greatly scultped movie accurate figures and instead what we got were funko pops. Nothing against Funko but after what we go with N2 toys I have been dying for something a lot more accurate to collect and we constantly blocked at almost every turn when it comes up. So unless you have more then just a hunch I would say it's not likely to happen at least not for this movie.
That said Maybe one day Mcfarlane will come around and want to do his own line of mad max figures from all over the franchise and I bet someday he could even get the permission to do so. But unless he can underbid Funko pop I honestly wouldn't see this happening based off the past. WB isn't amazing when it comes to some of their properties. If WB cared we should have hot wheels, figures WITH vehicles and so much more that we have mostly never EVER gotten. I don't wish to be mean or a kill joy but the relationship with WB and George Miller has always been incredibly rocky.

The good news is that WB's old management - folks responsible for really dumb ideas regarding Fury Road - is now gone and replaced with more understanding folks. At least if we are to believe Buchanan's book. But that book is sanctioned by WB itself, so there's a chance they could've been painting themselves in a better light.lord humungus wrote: ↑Sun Jul 10, 2022 7:58 am Based on what I know from some insider infromation on WB and merchandising last the movie I honestly wouldn't hold my breath on them doing it. Well you do make a good point and it's not just Buckmans (sp?) book I know discrovery recently bought WB and has been cleaning house so it's possible with new management we could see it but I'd need more to go on then simply a change of gaurd. But heck I am super happy to be wrong as we needed better more high quality merch from mad max.

I'd love to see remote controlled cars based on Mad Max vehicles.

that would be cool! I've always wanted more 1:18 cars from the franchise. I know there's the interceptor, Max's MFP car, knight rider, but i think that might be it. So much more potential out there.

I would love an RC version of Max’s camel wagon from Thunderdome.
I have often thought Tamiya’s “Lunchbox” chassis would be a great starting base for one.

The Lunchbox is a very unstable platform, they roll over all the time so wouldn't great with a nicely modelled body if you want to actually drive it (they are, however, great fun. And dogs love to chase them).
The Tamiya CC01, however, would be a fab base for any Maxian off-road capable truck or buggy - there are fancier chassis available, but the CC01 has the right "feel", with a 50 turn motor it drives like a scaled down truck rather than an RC car, and it's fun to take out on a woodland walk or some light rock crawling. Do it, you know you wanna!
