The 3 deleted scenes

I'm genuinely surprised we don't have a specific thread yet, i know they've been posted in another thread on here. I loved all of them particularly the 2nd and 3rd ones which were amazing and should have been in the movie.

The 1st deleted scene adds very little and i'm assuming its placement went just before we cut to Joe and the War Boys as they are having a rest and then the War Boy spots the rig in the distance, heading back.

I'm thinking the 2nd one may have been cut due to the darker tone of it and also the challenge/ expense of replacing the dummy baby with CG. It adds a lot to the world of the movie though and even though brief gives a lot of food for thought. This was a great scene and it was actually quite powerful.

The 3rd was awesome too with more dialogue from Joe and more of Miss Giddy and Rictus, also a glimpse at Giddy's demise. Again this should have been in the movie IMO and it was a shame it was cut. I love Joe's line about turning over every grain of sand and also Rictus's speech to the War Boys, very good stuff.

The 2nd one with the baby is outright disturbing  , even more so than rape, or Toadie fingers scenes in MM2. It's bordeline MM1 territory on disturbance scale, it has VERY exploitation-y vibe and so NOT today's hollywood. No way any blockbuster producer would let that one in.
At least now we know where the rubber baby prop went and what added up to the R-rating.

But the 3rd shouldn't have been cut. As you said, it shows the character arc of Ms.Giddy and even more so, shows more of all that Joe and his warboys interaction. And it has more of other Imperators which are IMO, very underused in the movie. I think it was the victim of "let's get it under two hours" order.

Now this is filmmaking.

So pleased to see this.

Director's cut of Fury Road is going to blow the kiddy cut out the water.

Agreed, Fury Road would only benefit from a darker tone.

The scenes themselves, I wrote that in another post but the baby scene was hilarious to me, the way that mother did a 180 and chucked the baby away as soon as she was told it won't live long anyway. Tits out, you're up.
The History Woman scene was far grimmer IMO with her begging for the crows to come and get it over with already. Not to mention the circle in the sand done with a bike reminiscing of the TC gang burnout signs they left on the roads.

You can only imagine how grotesque the original cut would be with things like Miss Giddy's torture scene and Organic left behind the armada while he was taking a dump.

The first one was a simple establishing shot, I don't think taking it out made any negative effect and we shortly get "one man one bullet" and "here we go, girls!" which evoke the same sentiment.

The other two would have made the film darker in tone - the departure of the War Rig was pretty tight, and straight cuts between Max and Furiosa focussed on what was needed. Adding in what would have been a pretty shocking scene with incidental characters would have taken the focus from them, but would have added to the texture of the world. Similarly, the death of Miss Giddy introduces extra detail into the world, but it's pulling focus away from the impending exposition of Furiosa and the Many Mothers.

tl;dr - I can see why all three of them were cut, but it's fantastic to see them.

The last scene shouldve been kept .. but just remember they filmed some extra 900hrs of footage most of which was done apparently in sequence.
The directors cut should include multiangle viewing!

Indeed.

The scenes are just what I wanted to see more of. More atmosphere, more aftermath, more emotion, more Miller, more Mad Max.

Great point about the TC gang reference with the burnout. This stuff is getting me rather excited.

I absolutely love Rictus's line: "So now, my poor old dad..." lol. Some of his lines during his speech were hard to make out but i think i got most of it. Rictus could have done with a little more dialogue/ screen time. Even if the character is a moron!

LOL

Loved the way Nathan Jones played Rictus. Would love to see more of him.
