Razor cola - 2 gear sticks???

Post by rockatansky4073 »

Firstly whoever's picture i've borrowed for this (probably Artemis' ;) ) Thankyou.

I'm not enough of a car guy to know this, but to a layman it looks like the Razorcola has 2 gearsticks?

1 of them an automatic and the other a shifter, yet i don't remember seeing a clutch in the car.

Slit pulls the big silver one back hard, before going in to ram Max dangling off the War rig - in an Australian car that's either 2nd gear or 4th, i doubt he's going into 2nd at that speed.

Car guys - what the hell???

Looks like it might be an emergency break.

I thought that for a second too, though Australian Handbrakes (we call Emergency brakes simply handbrakes :) ) are more flat to the floor and you pull them upward.
But Slit wrenches this thing back kicking into a gear before heading in to squish Max.

Might be a boost switch for the nitro or a handbrake , meanwhile the main gear stick looks like one I used to have , you would pull that red knob up to engage reverse

The car is an auto in this movie and the shifter (fwd one) is a B & M shifter by the looks of it. He pulls back on that shifter before sinking the boot into it. The other lever i would guess is a handbrake as mentioned above. The original handbrake though on an XB Falcon pulls out from just under the dash on the left side of the steering wheel, they are not floor mounted between the seats like the newer cars.

oh shityeah ya right, Phil, my Dad's XB had one of those 'handle' handbrakes you had to wrench out from under the dash.
Remember the foot handbrakes?
They were fun to stomp on.

It's definitely an auto shifter, you can see the end of the cable that runs down to the trans. I had one of these exact shifters when i was a lad. I've also had a manual box with a Mr Gasket Vertical gate shifter set up and yes those shifters have a separate lever for engaging reverse although it's a small lever that you pull back on to engage it not just a knob. The red knob i just took it to be the blower switch like on the previous Interceptor?

Makes me wonder why they'd even bother with a handbrake though.
Warboys arn't exactly worried about OH&S.

Them foot brakes were more a US thing i think? I've seen a few imported cars with them fitted but can't think of many that came out like that down here. Probably for that exact reason as some people would have been laying skids everywhere.

I'm trying to think when Ford did away with them under dash pull out handbrakes on the Falcons down here. It must have been the AU Falcon i think which came out in 98 or there abouts. Up till then all Falcons still went with that pull out system.

I'm not sure either but we see Nux rip his on to swing his car back around when chasing the war rig i think. Sure seemed like there was some handbrake going on in that manoeuvre.
