Because China is one of the worst countries in the world. And one of the most dangerous ones for sure.

There's no freedom or human rights in there. Chinese people is trained to work, work, work and produce since they are babies. Sounds familiar? Yes, the War Boys. They are just puppets in the hands of a tyrant.

China wants to dominate the world. Mark my words.

"Fury Road" would be seen as a "terrorist threat" since it's a big slap in the face of oppression, brainwashing and lack of humanity.

As a guy wrote on IMDB:

"This wont play in China because the issues of the movie ( oppression, totalitarianism, patriarchal society, liberation, revolution, human rights, ecology, the construction of a new World,woman's rights, DEMOCRACY) are the last thing the Chinese gov. wants to show.

China is not a democracy. Behind the frontage of that Liberal Capitalism, there is one of the most oppressive and brutal regimes in the World."

Yeah, but Fury Road maybe is a bit more... EVIDENT? It's a movie talking through strong images.

Uncle Entity has a good point, though. China does in fact censor "freedom" and "liberty" and demand re-edits of media that display such things or they are never released to the public. My younger cousin returned home about 2 weeks ago after spending the last few months there and it's like another world. The only region that is relatable to westerners is Hong Kong, which is being actively sabotaged by the Chinese government because it puts a big spotlight on how oppressive they are. For example, Americans are followed and bullied constantly by agents whose official job is to prevent pictures being taken of seemingly random areas. They do it only because they can.

Of course, and this is an interesting theory, and maybe the truth, I don't know. But you can't say "the real reasons" if you just read a comment somewhere on the internet...

It's interesting to know why Fury Road wasn't screened in China... and maybe the reason lays in the political content of the movie, but it's just a theory.

It does not yet have a release date scheduled for China, where box office expectations are likely to be high too..

Yep still don't see it being listed anywhere as actually screening there yet still.

Checked out the links you posted above and none say it is actually screening there. The first link i read it more as a review of the film that is talking of it simply being the first Mad Max movie in 30 years. It's dated back in May about a week after it's mid May release.
Link two is just telling how the posters read for them countries.
Link three dated June 8 actually says in the article it does not have a release date for china.


Just done some searching and couldn't find anything that confirmed that FR was screening there still. This website below was updated June 26 and still hasn't put a date next to the movie but was still being listed as a June release. It does mention at the top that opening dates are subject to change though.

I've read that the movie has been approved which by the sounds of the censorship for the country is something in itself an achievement. Just haven't read anywhere that it is screening and i think when it does it'll add some pretty good dollars to the box office total. China could be huge market for this film and be what makes or breaks our chance for getting our next chapter. Right now with an estimated $200M + budget it hasn't broken even from it's theatrical run but it'll be great if it can. Once the dvd/blu rays release i'm sure that'll be enough to get it over the line but it'd be nice to see it's cinema run do that on it's own and i feel the better the chance of another story getting greenlit.
