So few people at the film?

Post by Modern Wastelander »

I still haven't calmed down. That is, by far, the greatest cinematic experience of my life. I'm not going to spoil anything, just watch it.

I'm a little concerned, however. 7:00 limit release showing, and there were 12 people in the theater. Twelve.

Hopefully it will gain momentum. I know that, of my friends, maybe two others have plans on seeing it. I've been waiting on this movie for years, and I'm afraid it just won't be the blockbuster it needs to get a fifth film. What are your thoughts? Any other theater reports?

Advertised everywhere as May 15th. Usually these early screenings aren't that packed but I'm reading from others that their 7pm is packed so it varies.

My 7pm is a little less than 3 hours from now. Paid a bit extra for reserved seating, but now I'm wondering if that was really necessary.

I checked my theater again and 90% of the seats are filled for tonights 10PM showing. The seats are 11.75 for ATMOS plus a $1.50 surcharge if you reserve online for a total of $13.25. By the way they can go to hell for the surcharge and I ain't payin' it.

I still plan on waiting until Monday. As of now almost all the seats are available for the 1PM matinee for $8.75. I've waited this long I can wait another 2.5 days for a more pleasant viewing experience. I haven't read any reviews or spoilers so I'm going in good shape esp. after reading this site for 5 years.

I went to a 10am showing yesterday, there were maybe 30 people in the theatre. At a suburban cinema here in Melbourne, 30 people at a weekday 10am session is not a bad showing - it's not exactly an ideal time for most people to go. I saw Kingsman 10am opening day back in Feb, and the numbers were pretty similar.

Saw it again at IMAX at 6:45pm, and that was a full house - as was the session after it, judging by the people coming in as we are leaving.

Other than us die hards, most people will just be heading in to regular sessions over the weekend, and I'd expect it to be packed at peak times. I would also expect it to pick up additional business on word of mouth as it goes. Went with a friend last night who is more of a general fan of film, not Mad Max specific, and he raved about it afterwards. He texted me again this morning, "I'm still in awe of fury. Blew my mind". The action is insane, word of mouth is going to pull people in to see this one way more than anything else.

Glad to hear this isn't a bad omen. This is the first premiere I've gone to, so heading in 20 minutes early to make sure I get a seat ended up being a bit of a waste, hah. Did get the best seat in the house though.

I'm definitely going in to see it a few more times next weekend. I'll see how it goes over then.

I went to see the first screening at my local cinema which was 10 am in the morning on a weekday , so most people are at work and school , there were about 30 - 40 people there , I did notice that the later sessions were pre booked up at 75% capacity , come Friday night and the weekend I think it will be a full house , only the die hards go in early like us mob , had the best seat in the house as well , its good to be king
I actually want to see this movie again , just like MM2 and Star Wars :P

First 2 for my small city were Thurs night (tonight but technically not now) around 7PM and 9:45PM, I went to the 9:45PM. Pretty dead, very spread out maybe 75% empty. Like others mentioned, most people only know it hits on Friday night like basically all movies.
