My daily driver...

Post by FiftiesDream »

A while back I saw a message where somebody was asking about peoples daily dirvers.

I have to say I was shocked at the response. For MM fans I expected more muscle cars and old classics.

Instead most people seem to have newer rice burners. Hardly what I expected.

I mean my wife drives a newer car, a 91 Ford Escort (hey at least it is American!)

But none of this new crap for me. My daily driver is a 1950 Plymouth Deluxe. A true piece of Detroit Steel!

Here is something to consider: If there was some sort of nuclear war, even a limited exchange, the first

consequence of that, as far as non-human casualties, would be the machines.

All of these new cars would be as dead as any junker in a salvage yard.

EMP (electro magnetic pulse) would kill most micro electronics, including electronic ignition. My car

would just keep going and going. In fact the possibility exists for an enemy to detonate several warheads high in our atmosphere.

10 to 12 evenly spaced 20 megaton nuclear warheads detonated at around five miles alititude,

would kill almost every electronic device in the country. We would not be hurt, but our country would be crippled.

We would be defensless to any advanced attack, having to rely only on good old fashioned foot soldiers.

Many military and emergency ground vehcles have standard ignition, and therefore can continue running

after such an occurance. All you guys with your fancy new sissy cars will be SOL.

Something to think about.

In the mean time, here is a pic of my car.

Hey if I could afford to keep a working piece of classic steal running I would, but im a junior in college and do not have the time or pocket change to keep it running. I love my rice burner.

Hey man. The cars built nowadays are so hodge podge that your getting a mix of a vehicle. Heck my eclipse is built in America, and Fords and Chevys are built over seas and shipped back home.

Wakeup man. We are no longer living in a country economy anymore, we are living in a global economy.

Hey sorry your message got me all worked up but I had to tell you the truth. A economics profesor I had handed out sheets showing where cars were actually built and it shocked a lot of diehard "buy American" fans. l8r

With a nuclear winter, fallout everywhere, no food to eat, and no clean water to drink, I

don't think I'd care less about cars, should a nuclear war occur.

If you look at your post you will see it is so dumb it is funny. Most of us go to work,i have to go back and forth down town every day,and the gas here is like $1.40 a gallon,i need somthing with good gas milage as do most people. And i dont know where you get off about saying that imports are made like crap,my celica may not be fast but it has lasted me a good long time with very little problems.Second,a lot of the people here have a family, you cant get around a family in a big old muscle car.I had a camaro,it was a great car but i grew up,i needed somthing that would get me to work and back, and my suburban gets me places my celica cant go,im happy with what i have, this doesnt mean i dont like muscle cars because i do,very much so,but i just dont have time.
