Things I Learned From the Road Warrior/Trivia

Post by Shadow94 »

I first saw this movie when I was about 9 and even now 11 years later I'm still learning a lot about it, and things I've missed. Thought I'd share some of the trivia.

1. The music box Max acquires was originally made in Japan. I was fortunate enough recently to acquire one of the exact same model from the same era. It plays a unique rendition of "Happy Birthday" that can't be found on other versions.

2. There appears to be an army helmet lying on the ground beside the big rig's door at the initial wreckage site. Or is that a pan?

3. Some websites make reference to the truck carrying "passengers" but the only person who appeared to be with it was the deceased driver.

4. (possible blooper) After acquiring the music box, Max walks to his car, seemingly ignoring the fuel he was collecting from the dune buggy.

5. Max's shotgun is said to be a Savage/Stevens, made over here in the USA. This is the same kind of shotgun carried by the Toecutter. Possibly as a homage, the Punisher in the 2004 film of the same name carries an identical sawed off shotgun. The two characters have similar tragic pasts.

6. Whether due to budget constraints or maybe to show the characters were scavenging whatever they could, some of them wear sports equipment like umpire masks and hockey pads.

7. It's unknown where Max would have learned to drive a twin-stick tractor trailer truck, as even no one in the compound really has a clue how to drive it.

8. Ammo is said to be very scarce, and the only shotgun shells Max can find look like they're a hundred years old. However, it's unknown where Papagallo got a packet of intact shotgun shells from.

9. The way the Humungus loads his revolver before the final chase, would have meant he'd have two empty chambers before he could fire a round. Smith and Wesson cylinders spin counter-clockwise.

10. Those quad-barreled dart guns were actually based on Nordenfelt gun designs, a British type of machine gun. It's unknown what was supposed to launch the arrows.

11. Despite not having any ammo for his gun, Max is never seen wielding a crossbow even though they are available, meaning he either dislikes the crossbow or chooses to remain unarmed.

12. While not explicitly stated in the movie, it's said to say that Max lost the right sleeve of his jacket when he made a cast for his broken arm?

Never read this anywhere. No idea where it would come from

Nothing to do with budget, that was what the costume designers came up with. However When they advertised for "extras" in MM2 people were told to show up in their own costume. (costume enhancements wouldve been added no doubt depending if they were to appear in front of the camera for too long)

7. It's unknown where Max would have learned to drive a twin-stick tractor trailer truck, as even no one in the compound really has a clue how to drive it.
Your mixing reality with movies i think. No in "real life" knew how to drive it, hence it was Driven by Denis Williams in the film. In a movie sense that doesnt mater as its a film.
10. Those quad-barreled dart guns were actually based on Nordenfelt gun designs, a British type of machine gun. It's unknown what was supposed to launch the arrows.
Dart guns were all air driven
11. Despite not having any ammo for his gun, Max is never seen wielding a crossbow even though they are available, meaning he either dislikes the crossbow or chooses to remain unarmed.
An empty shotgun is still more menacing then a crossbow. The other person will never know its empty unless he pushes his luck. :D

Yes he did. It was the long double barrel shotgun as he walked Jonny The Boy into the water.

Can anyone tell me what the cause of Max's shotgun misfire was supposed to be? To me it looked like the primer fired but the powder did not for some reason.

Because if he had killed Humungus then, it would have been the end of the movie

The shells he grabbed from the dead marauder were old. The first shell crumbled in his hand. The other one was already black, daresay heat and age affected im guessing.
