They didn't have to wait like us.
Right, but the wait was worth it.
Finally we did get the better sequel.

They did get three terrible prequel movies and tons of shit games in the last decade or two. The worst we got was Beyond Thunderdome, and that's about on equal grounds with Return of the Jedi. Star Wars couldn't have sunk any lower.
They gave us the N-2 toyline and then abandoned us.
No animated series, no games, nothing.
Then a movie, a game and a (very short) comic series all in the same year.
I'm saying bloody Star wars fans are spoilt and yet we have the better series.
"We should watch the Star Wars Trilogy before we see the Force Awakens next week"
"Which ones?"
"The original obviously! Not that prequel jar-jar whiny Anakin crap"
"We should watch Road Warrior before Fury Road"
"I love that film so much"
I'd much rather have nothing for 30 years than have a mountain of crap in-between like Star Wars has.
I grew up moreso with Star Wars than Mad Max, and despite seeing MM2 and MMBT as a kid, I only really got deep into the MM movies in my 20s.
I'm 30 now, and I admit, when I saw The Force Awakens my immediate impression was that it was better than Fury Road. But in hindsight, I think I was just happy to finally have a decent Star Wars movie released during my lifetime. So I would probably give The Force Awakens about an 8.0/10; I would give MMFR a 9.0/10.
For comparison's sake, I give The Empire Strikes Back a 9.5/10. It's definitely one of the best films of all time, but I don't really think any film is worthy of a perfect 10/10 score. At the other end of the scale, I would give the prequels a 3.0/10 average and still feel generous.
