I was never a fan of the capri. Don't know why. Anyway, has anyone thought what a persuit special based on a typeB Opel Manta would look like? I reckon it'd be quite cool. Especially with the senator 3Litre engine in it Image

Or a Cavalier Sports Hatch or coupe? I like the Manta very much, but they are hard to find in the condition that I like to see them in...

Both the Cav and the Manta have got a similar front end to the Black on Black from the factory, with cut outs on the Mantas!! I reckon that it would look more effective than a Capri andf would need less work on the front end. Vauxhall actually made some specials from Cavalier Sports Hatches, Chevettes, etc in the late 1970s, which looked very Max-esque.

You could make a nice Nightrider replica from a coupe version of the Manta, too!

Would a 24v Senator engine fit? I should think so!!! Image

Very quickly done rendition of the manta persuit car. It's a bit rough, but you get the idea. Mind you, there wasn't much to do; Darker wheels, mfp lisence plate, mfp logo at the back, tinted windows and the blower. whaddya think?

I think that has the makings a convincing replica of the Black on Black. It would be pretty easy to do for real, especially with a black Manta/Cav coupe as the base car!

The real difficulty would be in finding a Manta/Cav coupe that doesn't need a lot of work doing to it before the conversion can begin. Most are either too nice to cut up, or are too nasty and need a lot of restoration before they can even get an MOT!

Also which 1970s British saloon do you think would look best as a yellow Pursuit or Interceptor? I think the MkIII Cortina would lend itself well to the paint job...

Cortina or perhapse a 6 or 7 series BMW. Alter the grille a bit and it'd be quite good I reckon.

Oh yeah, I've also found the best UK car for a persuit special. Being a 70' vauxhall, it ought to take the senator 3L engine, as the 2L one was just a sleved version. The Vauxhall Firenza HP.

This pic came from http://www.rise12.freeserve.co.uk/dsg/n ... enzahp.htm

What a mean looking car!!!

The standard non HP firenza or magnum would make a pretty good standard persuit or interceptor.

Good one! The sad thing is that the Droop Snoot is too rare and valuable these days to 'Max up'. I think the DSG would be knocking on your door, baying for blood!

I think you can buy the snoot from a fibreglass company, which you could put onto a standard Firenza. People have been doing this for years, to rip people off at selling time, thinking that they are buying a real DS.

A normal Viva or Magnum 4 door saloon would make a good Yellow Pursuit or interceptor. A two door would make a nice Nightrider.

Just add paint and wang in a 2300cc slant four! Image

If any uk fans are interested, the summer nationals show is being held this weekend at the aquadrome, billing, northampton, it is the largest show for american cars and thanks to Sandy Mercer, the organiser of the Australian Ford Register UK, ozzy fords have been invited, hopefully there will be a good variety of models including my replica and two other coupes, one of which is a mint XC Cobra.

The show is all weekend but i believe the ozzy fords are just attending sunday, which is the best day i'm told.

madmax2050 aka john is also attending, unfortunately his big bopper replica is still on going so he'll be arriving in his daily driver this year, roll on completion John.

If anyone can make it, look us up for a chat, we'll be under a large ozzy flag, so i'm told.
