I thought peterson light made good examples, there located only 30min from me! Thats whome i got my blue light from for my BOB looks just the same as movie. Infact in the movie you can see the red letterd metal tag rivited to the base of the lights just like the Peterson lights.

Oh by the way that info is also on the Building a replica page right here! LOL under building a yellow interceptor even shows comparison pics! Pretty sure its safe to say Peterson MFG is were they soursed there lights from. I was just on there website and they still make em. Im sure someone here will contridict how there not movie perfect etc... whatever 99.9 percent of anybody who looks at the replicas dont care about those details, lol

Matt the orginals were Petersons (as you say the red tags on the orginals when compared to other older petersons as well) Newer ones have a sticker on them.

I did a bit of digging all those years ago and emailed a old guy in the USA (he was known are the Siren man, Peter Dorgen? he passed away last year) who restored antique lights and sirens, I emailed him a screen dump and he replied definately petersons and they have been making them for 30yrs (this was going back to 2001).

When i looked at their wesite i then found the small dash light as used in the interceptor.

North American also make a similar dash light (I have one of those too) and its not the same as the movie one, which is exactly as the Peterson.
North American also a few yrs ago started to make a copy of the Peterson light, so they are available through them as well.

Well cool then, Ya i got a good deal on my light in 04, since a lady in our car club works at peterson!! LOL Yes my blue light has the sticker. looks like the bigger lights still have metal tag if you look them up on there website as of ten mins ago lol.

No all newer ones have the sticker, the website has very old pictures.
I got mine in 2002 and came with stickers.
Have seen 2nd hand ones for sale and they have tags, wouldve been prior to 2000 im guessing that they stopped using them

The only thing if you want to nit-pick.... when you look at the orginal yellow interceptor roof lights, the plastic domes are slighty different.
One is flat and one has a slight curved top!

And no Doug, I aint getting my heat gun out to put a curve into the dome!

Would be interesting to hear how they came to use that brand of lights for the various cars. As far as I can remember they were not used in Victoria at the time. With the limited budget, you would think they would have scrounges a couple of Hella lights from the cops or ambos rather than pay for them? I suppose we will never know, those sorts of details would have been forgotten a long time ago.

They (the petersons) werent used in any aussie police or emergency services which made it all the more strange. Even the smaller dash mounted Peterson wasnt to be seen anywhere. Western Australian Police had at the time fitted to their XC police cars a blue revolving light with 3 lens inside (as opposed to the 4 lens Peterson). They also had American made light bars as well.

Im guessing Miller wanted the yellow interceptor to be very distinct and have maybe a slight american feel?
