Daz, that's a good point. If possible, we should encourage the DJs to make a soundboard recording of their sets to make available to fans later. Or at least some snippets. Especially if they're going to include samples from the movie etc..
And I'm sure that if the DJs wanted some movie samples to sprinkle in there are plenty of people on this board would be happy to provide them...

good link Madmaximages.I hope they aren't too sticky on these two laws or we may have some folks getting in trouble.

PROHIBITION: WARNING LIGHTS
A person shall not display a flashing or steady burning red or blue warning light on an off-highway motor vehicle except as permitted by Section 21055 or when an extreme hazard exists (CVC 38346).

PROHIBITION: USE OF SIREN
(a) An off-highway motor vehicle, except an authorized emergency vehicle, shall not be equipped with a siren.
(b) A person driving an off-highway motor vehicle, except the driver of an authorized emergency vehicle as permitted by Section 21055, shall not use a siren (CVC 38375).

Cheers,Bill

Interesting. But those two prohibitions only apply to off-road vehicles. I guess maybe a black on black interceptor with sirens would still be okay?
Civilians aren't allowed to use sirens on regular cars on the roads, but this is not on the road, so maybe that law is avoided as well.

The other thing is that this place is fairly isolated so I think we'll be okay. It would take them a while just to get out there and issue us a warning.

Wow, I hope the venue change doesn't cause trouble for anyone! Man, I'm glad I live in Nevada! ;)

See you all in a month!

I talked to the BLM today. Sirens & red/blue beacons are not allowed anywhere. But they said we can try to put it into our permit. Scarlett is personally going into the BLM office tomorrow to deliver the permit application.

BTW, helmets are required on 3 and 4 wheel ATV's. Otherwise, no need for a helmet on motorcycles, dirtbikes and Humungus vehicles.

FYI: There will be no live bands at the event due to BLM policy. The event will have DJs instead.

CALIFORNIA REQUIRES USE OF HELMETS ON : DIRTBIKES, ATV's, ATC's and ANY OHV without a roll cage, roll bar or some type roof or driver enclosure. (The HUMONGUS machine MAY be exempt due to size & type)

If this NEW location is in CALIFORNIA, you will be required to wear a helmet.

If it is NON-LICENSED for highway use, you will be REQUIRED to post a 2009 or 2010 CALIF. OHV STICKER also.

Thanks, March Hare.
The helmet requirements I posted are straight from the mouth of Larry Blaine, recreation director for BLM.
Not sure why his word doesn't match what you found, but it may be because we are having a special event and not just there off-roading by ourselves.

... trust me Karol, it's nothing that was "found", just going on experience. You can only get stopped by Johnny Law so many times until the OHV regulations become second nature. I spend MANY a weekend riding quads & such in the California High Desert between Victorville & Las Vegas, and I have had both unfortunate and "casual" run-ins with almost every separate law enforcement organization that patrols there.

I'm just looking out for fellow forum members here, so none of you guys (or gals) get ticketed.

They don't give "warnings" for the non-informed, they just pass out citations.

And this is why I live in NV and not CA. :)

In australia iv never heard of such a law regarding emergency lights and sirens not to be used off road.

At little river last october, the guys with the BOB were using thier sirens and blue lights on the street, and even the police were in attendance
and didnt do a thing, but it was a madmax event and they turned a blind eye.

Its 3 weeks till we arrive in LA and 4 weeks till the event, we are counting down and starting to pack the suitcases.

We are going to get the swine flue vaccine this week, i dont mind being stuck in LA but not in a hospital for a cpl a weeks.
