Back in progress, and about to go off to media blasting finally. Going to do a little welding on the frame, as it is rivited at most major junctions. This is no concours stock resto, so might as well keep it from getting loose and shifty like these old trucks will sometimes as the rivets get old and rusty. Also thinking about taking a heaver suspension and swapping it in to give the tow rig some real functionality.
Well its been an awesome show season, which really distracted me from the Cobra F100 for a bit, but I had a lot of cool times with the XA Bat!
Thanks MrSpeed, Its going to be an awesome pair for sure!
Yeah Bart I think you are probably right, but I am going to have to do my best with a USA 'close enough' for now. Mustang low back buckets look a tad too narrow. Maybe one of the late 60's chrystler products. 66 Charger low back seats have some similarity I think.
Still hunting for the elusive Hella lamps for the hood.

Re: Building the F100 Cobra Tow Truck
Hey Dee will be a cool build i know just about everything there is to know on 67-72 ford trucks ive owned a few and my 72 f100 was my first car (still have it) restored into 69 ranger. If you need any help with the truck in genral ask and there is a site dedicated to these trucks only- Fordification.com there is more info on 67-72 ford trucks than there is info on Mad Max on this site! LOL Kind of a shame to chop up a short bed. COuld be worth some coin restored.

Re: Building the F100 Cobra Tow Truck
Matt,
Thanks much for the offer. Yes,please, I would value your input, and could always use some advice. Like just about every car I ever get there was serious temtation to simply restore, but this truck is the perfect donor for this. Sunroof cut into the top, several mirror packages over the years have left many holes in the doors, bed floor rusted out, cab corners and floor bad in spots, things that will either not matter in this build with the mods, or will be simple fixes while all this other metalwork goes on. Sure would like to find someone who would swap soem inner fender aprons and radiator support for a nice tailgate I would not need (and maybe some other un needed bits like door glass, back glass, etc.
I guess what I need to know first is if F250 or 350 leaf springs will fit the shortbed frame without mods. Want to actually be able to haul a tow if needed, and I dont think the 1/2 ton springs will cut it.... of course I want to keep the 5 lug for the accurate look.... I will have to go get on that f100 site!
