Nothing on the BBFC website but a few cinemas -who weren't before - have it rated as a 15 in the UK. Same rating as Thunderdome. Was hoping it would be an 18 in a way.

So, rather late in the day, the BBFC have just confirmed the UK rating as 15 which is the same as Thunderdome was rated upon release.

Midway though this interview snippet, Miller is asked point blank about whether there was an effort to make MMFR a PG-13 film, and Miller replies that 2 versions were tested, one of which was a tamer PG-13 version. Apparently that version didn't test as well as the R-rated one so, to WB's credit, they decided to go with the version we're going to see. Kudos to WB!

Kudos to WB for sticking with Miller.

Yeah I mean I was surprised...this movie was violent as hell guys. Without spoilers someone gets killed with a gas powered hedge trimmer..think about that for a moment. lol

I mean Miller does take cues from the previous films where what could be a really gory scene or impact, the camera cuts away leaving it to the imagination....BUT...there are a few times when he doesn't do this so the moments becomes more shocking, surprising and intense.

After seeing the film a couple of times i am curious to what is in the movie that caused the film to receive an R rating in the US? I would think the rating it carries is obviously having some impact on the box office figures over there which is a shame. A shame for that sales could be better i would think and a shame that it's restricted so badly just as much for those who may wanna see it but can't. I want this movie to do well! I just don't understand how it gets a lower rating (which seems more appropriate for the content) in most world regions yet gets slapped with an R in the US.. :?

The R might restrict but on the other hand, it brings more bums in seats.

Older (ie 18+) people are tired of PG-13 crap like the forthcoming Terminator film.

I find it hard to work out why it was rated R in the USA , MA 15+ in Australia , Miller has made a movie with no swearing , no sex and minimal gore a rarity these days.
The American censors are a lot more prudish than other parts of the world be it film , TV etc
