Yeah, after THAT f**kin' movie, lots of hoons down here, were trading their COMMODORE's, for f**kin' HONDA's, thinking they were gonna go race VIN DIESEL.

...f**kin' pathetic.

The dumb and the ridiculous parts 1 and 2 ran its course here in the USA,the Jap car craze is going out like shag carpeted vans from the 1970's.America is going through a huge Muscle car boom or old car boom anyway as alot of baby boomers can now afford a SS396 Camaro even the CLONES of legit muscle cars are being highly sought after.i've seen lots of the so called heavy hitter jap cars with thier bookshelf wings ad 68.000 stickers and fart cannon exhaust dissapear or when i see one the wings gone and the ground effects kits all smashed up and 3 of its 60 inch rims are replaced with emergency spares.the aftermarket for jap cars has crapped out thank god'long live V8 rear wheel drive'

Actually, they used it because the real cops were using them across the country.

The Cop Taurus' were SHO's and were very quick and good handling.

I agree about these "Ricers" (I don't like the term, but there isn't any other available) Image

For the most part these are all show & no go and I thouroughly despise the horrific gaudiness of the things.

However, some of these are DAMNED fast & docmented as such.

My best mate, Mike laughs at me 'cos I work with imports and I hate them. He thinks I'm "Anti-Import"

"No, Mike.. I'm not Anti-Import" I'm Anti Stupid & Ugly!" Image

I can't make fun of "imports" anymore...I'm driving one...my 74 XB Falcon. However, there is a loophole...I make fun of all of the "Tuna" cars I want. We have some doozy's here in Detroit. Everything from the old 80's Suburbans running the 26" "Dub's" to the little Saturn SC1's with every stick-on part from Autozone and JCWhitney. So...is it true that every $.99 Type-R sticker is worth 20 horse, and every $.75 Type-S is worth 10? My stock 3300 pound PT Cruiser can outrun some of these "oonza-oonza" Hondas...and it's only a 2.4L 4-banger. I do like the old 88 Mitzubishi/Chrysler Conquest TSi and the EVO 8 Mitzi Lancers though...nice styling with the go to back it. Still though, I grew up in the old school of pushrod V-8's where "there is no replacement for displacement." Anyone else want the tuna can to stand on?

I'd also like to remind all of us that that big heavy V-8, while powerful is VERY heavy and in itsef represents a tremendous disadvantage in any sort of racing..

Hmmmm.. Aluminum blocked V-8's... now THAT would be entertaining.

Oh, & Bart.. I'm familliar with the XR4Ti you're referring to.. Ugly things, but damned fast for their time & Engine types.

(I'm told they couldn't get the correct motor for these smog legal in the states so they put the 4 cylinder in instead. Euro versions supposedly had the turboed aluminum block V-6.)

Actually some V8s aren't that heavy at all,for instance, the 500 cube caddy belive it or not is lighter than a Toyota 6.I found that out reading a 4Wheel & Off Road mag when they swapped their blown inline Yota 6 witha 500 cube Caddy V8 in thier Landcruiser.and as for any European cars that cross the pond here thier all neutered versions of the ones in Europe, hell man England got a beefed up turbo'd Chevette and the German built Ford 4 banger when built right can be hella fast.

Yes, the XR4TI used a turbocharged 2.3 4 cylinder. Same one found in the Mustang SVO, Thunderbird TUrbocoupe, and earlier Mustang GT-Turbos.

Honda had developed a resin engine block that had cylinder sleeves and ran aluminum pistons and heads back ing the late 80's. It lasted a while, but heat was it's major enemy. They then tried ceramic...but heat and shock made it brittle. The best material so far for racing...is...drumroll...aluminum...or as you brits say, aluminium. The Vector W-12 takes aircraft-grade Al. and mills the block directly from a solid chunk. CART and the F-series cars use Al. as well for their blocks...3L V-6's putting out over 600+ horses. The modular engine that is in the Mustang today, is a 4.6L, 32 valve, 265 horse aluminum monster. You see, it's out there...

Actually the Mustang engine is a 16v setup, the Mustang "Cobra" is a 32 valve engine, and it started at 320HP and is currently at 390HP iron block with a Eaton M112 supercharger...totally Mad Max like...
