Correct. The only time we see a fully mature nest is Aliens, so that's the only time we see Warriors. Presumably the type of alien that matures is dictated by the Queens signal. An Immiture Queen (Ressurection) would only have Drones. It would also be safe to say that the "base" alien born is a Drone. A lack of a Queens input causes a metamorphasis, A strong Queens input causes Warriors to mature.

i love justifying and doing this sh*t, it's fun as hell.

But in breaking the 'its a movie' taboo. in FANGORIA number 57, STAN WINSTON deliberately invented the 'WARRIOR ALIEN', cause though he wanted the same alien as the first one, he wanted to personalise his own in some way, so he took the dome off it's head and made the skeletal type head, it was the comic books and us geeks that invented the 'DRONE/ WARRIOR THEORYS'...

Actually, He intended to put the dome over the "warrior" head, but liked the result so much he left it off. Yes, us Geeks came up with most of the details, but the inherent realism of the life cycle lends itself to being fleshed out. It's one of the things that makes me love the series so much, that these creatures could actually exist (from a biological standpoint) Do you have the Colonial Marines Technical Manual? Awesome book! extensive detail behind the ins and outs of the U.S.C.M.C. and Alien physiology. It supposes that the aliens are Flourine based as opposed to Carbon based, explaining the blood, how its body uses a host organism, etc.

We've kind of killed/taken over this thread, but many respondants to the inital question listed Alien (1-4) as favorites, so hopefully others are getting some enjoyment out of this banter besides us.

I'm a pretty huge Alien fan myself. Although, I prefer Predator. Interdictor is absolutely right about Alien 3/4. To understand why the movies suck so bad you have to understand what was going on while filming. First of all, Alien 3 changed scripts at least 3 times. When they started shooting the movie everybody left. And I mean everybody. They hated the direction of the movie. SO the suits from Fox came in and gave all these crappy ideas to David Fincher. Alien 3 was Fincher's first movie. They said crap like "Hey, how about the alien comes out of a dog! Yeah, that's believable!"

Does anyone remember the Alien 3 tv commercials and trailers? They reminded me of Aliens for crying out loud. Fast paced, guns firing, people running around, and it hinted at another alien hive. It was one of the biggest let downs. They promised one thing but delivered something totally different. Michael Biehn attended the premier and later said how pissed off he was about being written out in the very beginning. The story was basically the same as Alien, showing how pathetic the dozens of writers were.

Alien Resurrection was somehow worse. You can explain that one as Fox's last ditch effort to capitilize on the Alien franchise without trying to make a half decent movie.

Terminator 3 is most likely gonna suck. It has really bad vibes. I mean, a female terminator was so obvious. And I'm disappointed they're making another Arnold goes back in time to save/kill somebody kinda Terminator. If Cameron made T3 several years ago like he originally planned it would have taken place in the future war with a grown up John Conner. Too bad he was busy with Titanic and bullsh*t.

INTERDICTOR, no man, i ain't got that book, where the hell do you get it?

i got an awesome MAKING OF RESSURECTION book, that is incredibly thorough, i'm sure if you read that you'd find a new appreciation for it, i just think it's superb, stylish as hell. you guys seen DELICATESSAN, or CITY OF LOST CHILDREN? made by the same guy as RESSURECTION. and they can actually be classed as SCIFI too while were on the subject.

Mad Max RW, Did you hear that Aliens Vs. Predator has finally been given the green light? I'm holding out hope for T3. Cameron's absence is a big concern. I agree The film I REALLY (really really) want to see is like you said, the fight against skynet in 2029. This is the logical continuation of the story and the only part not yet told in full. It stands to reason that there were female models of the infiltration units, but (in typical hollywood style) they have to make it new and improved, with hand sprouting rocket launchers, etc. If these super badass terminators exist, why didn't skynet send one to 1984? or 1991? (a big problem I had with the liquid metal terminator. why didn't it go to '84? Why didn't John send one to protect himself instead of a lowley T-800?) There is however supposed to (already) be a T-4 planned, and maybe this will be the future war?

rockatansky, The book is : Aliens Colonial Marines Technical Manual By Lee Brimmicombe-Wood Published by HarperPrism in 1996. I think it is now out of print, but you may be able to get it through Amazon as they can often find hard to get books.

The chapters include (and are very in depth): 1 The U.S.M.C. (a history) 2 Colonial Marine Infantry 3 Aerospace Operations 4 Heavy Weapons and Armor 5 Combat Support 6 Space Transport 7 Aliens

Yeah, they greenlighted the AvP movie, but I still don't think it's gonna happen. Did you notice it was given the go ahead the same time as Freddy vs. Jason? Guess which movie is already in the works and the other has barely gotten off the ground still. The supposed director is working on something like 2 other movies before he even considers Aliens vs. Predator. I believe making AvP "official" was little more than a response to Freddy vs. Jason.

No matter how well they do it, Freddy vs. Jason will be silly. It's like Celebrity Deathmatch.

Just think, all those stupid ideas for movies, products ("Aussie Nads"?!Image), whatever, anything you feel is absurd, ridiculous, pointless, or just plain awful, there was a big meeting and someone said "Hey, that's a great idea!".Image

Hey-here's a question

-does anyone know if "The Life of A SheDevil" is available in the US? I'm talking about the Australian original, not the Roseanne Barr piece of #$%^%^^^&.

Mad Max RW and Interdictor-

You guys have any interest in some nice, light full-scale resincast M-41 pulse rifles? A friend has the molds and is making them.
