I NEVER get tired of Road Warrior, I'm sure I have seen it way more times than the editor! If one of them comes on T.V., I must watch. It's obligatory. Besides, every once in a great while I still see the "lost version", though I have never managed to capture it on tape.
You're right though, If I haven't seen one in a long time, I seem to manage to see something new, or gain a new insight. Sometimes you have to step back from the painting......

I'm an Aussie and everyone who I've talked to has agreed that MM1 and MM2 are great movies. But everyone also thinks Thunderdome is just, well, sh*t. Probably because it's too childish and Americanised and doesn't have the intensity or action of the first two...

That's in Australia.
Everywhere in the world, THUNDERDOME is the most popular, because it was the best-seller out of the 3. And everyone agreed it's the best too. My word without yours. They are only words.

But it only counts in australia, without us, and our anarchic vibe we have down here max would have never been created (Know matter what comeback you have to this your not australian. and no offence to anyone else outside of australia, here is where it counts, i'm deadly serious, and i'm sure other aussies would agree, you have to be one of us, or atleast live here for a year to understand what i'm on about. here is where it's most important)

There are 3 sections to Thunderdome.
The first section is cool and interesting. The middle section is naff and the last section is excellent. But like most Sci-Fi movies, the finer details are not capture in the film. The Bartertown scenes were very brief but the full set had many shops and facilties.
This was also the case with Waterworld.

your right, the beginning of THUNDERDOME is very good, it has the feel and spirit of the MAD MAX films despite the tiny bits of humour here and there (max unloading his weapons. shooting the gaurds headress etc.) but it is very brief , it's like their rushing us to get to the desert, to those damn kids. cause their story was written first, miller just threw max into their story.

"and our anarchic vibe"
I think YOU Australians USE to stress the 'rebel side thing' too much.
I mean, you're more "good" and socially polished than what you'd think or suppose. I think it's a stereotype, and you believe in this BORING stereotype in a very religious way. Australians, Italians, Americans... at the end of the day, the so-called "nations" are damn playful masturbations and we remain alone with OURSELF, dealing with what we really are inside: human personas without country, colours or conventions in the pockets. Just ourself. Every man is a nation of himself. Our education/culture comes from parents - our family - not from State or outside people.
MAD MAX is a tale about human race, not just the AUSSIE people.
Mel is not Australian, did you know it? Your hero is American. In the first place, Max is a third generation polish man, born in Australia, I suppose. Catch it?

Oh! You're picturing one bad day here in NAPLES or - WORSE - in our "outback", towards the inner lands of the region. They are isolated days, fortunately. They can't describe a whole civilization... it would be an OVERSEMPLIFICATION.
Max is Australian, but still he's a third generation polish - "ROCKATANSKY" doesn't mean anything for you?
As far as concerning MEL... it's funny. Everyone complaining TINA was an American STARRING in a Mad Max movie... isn't ironic? Yes, it is!
