I have most everything figured out except the windscreen. Here's the prob; here in southern New Mexico the fine folks in uniform (with the little flashing lights) have this thing about tint, especially on windshields and front side glass. I want to be able to drive the hell out of this thing, and from what I can make out from my research, I am not sure the "boat" windsheild will hold up. I can make out three thin aluminum (?) braces behind the windscreen, and that could cause problems with obstructing view from drivers seat (what the cops might say). If you do the research, you will see that at least the drivers door can be opened, but that means the side glass (plexi) is not attached and supporting the front. You can tell I have been thinking the hell out of this...... If I make the side glass attached to the front (weld the doors shut) that would support the front, getting in and out would be over the back, not a problem but..... I could go on all night. Am I over thinking this?

make the sides of the glass attach to the top of the doors with it's own frame, separate from the windscreen. like the original door window frames do on a jeep/landrover. (an alu frame to bolt to the doors would be easiest).

Beginning to look like a tow truck boom. Thanks for all the great pics. Every new one I see gives me more info to work with. I may not be spot on with some of the parts, but I'm working with what I have laying around. I can change things down the road to exact parts as money and desire permit.

Movement foward. The lights (work and strobe) are non-functioning junk from my shop. They are there more for motivation. The winch and boom should hold about 750lbs. Obviously I don't plan actually tow anything, the movie truck couldn't have either (1/2 ton chassis droops under the weight of the heavy tow boom they put in the bed). I plan to weld a few chain hooks on at top of boom, paint it black, hang some chains and call it good. I also plan to hide a third brake light (small but bright) in the brackets at the top of the boom.

I'm trying to take pictures from some of the same angles as the pic's posted from the actual truck. I'm finding getting the build acurate is more difficult than it looks. Built the rollbars yesterday, the spread of the feet is wider than the movie truck, the pipe bender I had could'nt bend to the radius I needed. Even after cutting 2in out of the center. I have also noticed my boom angle is a little higher, boom length is OK, I cut my bed a little shorter. Good news is, anybody else attempting this build can use my build as a reference point for measurements.

Couple more. Also, I really want everybodies opion about the louvers on the hood. Should I have real ones punched in the correct direction, or weld a sheet of punched ones backwards on the hood.

I think your rollbar(s) is/are a little taller than what's in the movie too. Maybe that makes them look wider as well being how they're shaped like an A. The side shot comparison you posted first really gives this away.

I say definitely go with the real louvers. I will be surprised if anyone on this board tells you differently.
