FYI to Dragonforce, I emailed you about pics of the items but the email bounced back.

But if Karol's already taking a look I'll just wait and see what he thinks. Unless you want to post some pics here. I've got access to the bluray disc as well. Not that it really matters whether or not the belt is totally screen accurate (okay, it matters to me and I'm curious, but it won't matter to most people) I think plenty of people might be interested in just a black sam browne belt that is reasonably accurate.

As for the reasons you left this board etc., all I can say is that I've been pretty active here for the last year and I get into VERY detailed discussions about costumes here... and I haven't encountered any of the stuff you're complaining about. Maybe this board has changed since you've been away, or maybe I just judge the interactions differently.

Oh, and I'm really interested in seeing your axe pouch as well. I own a couple myself but they're not 100% screen accurate.

Sorry Jwrites but I am unsure of how to upload pics on this board, if you provide me your e-mail via private message I can certainly accommodate you there.
Although I stated the set is up for sale, I wish to advise that I am also open to any good swaps! I am really after the Shefftek British Army Knife, and would consider a trade for two of these. As I said the costuming thing has lost it's spark for me and I have no further use for the items. I estimate the value to be greater than the cost of two of these knives, so if there is anyone out there who can and is willing to fulfill this, you will be getting a real bargain!
The Knife sold with this set is there to look the part for aesthetics only, the blade does not snap into place as the spring in the back has broken a while ago, but I can assure you that the can opener works better than most conventional ones on the market! It is all stainless steel and unmarked, as I believe Max's was fairly plain looking too. As long as it looks the part, and can open the occasional can of Dinki-Di, isn't that what really matters? I don't ever recall max being shown using this knife for anything else, so in terms of movie authenticity I would not be mistaken in stating that it fits the bill. Who knows...perhaps Max's one was broken in the same way!

This will be my last post on this board, as I simply posted here to offer something for sale, like a for sale notice I guess. Any further enquiries can be directed to me through e-mail or PM.

Cheers.

FYI

The belt has now been sold, through an advertisement elsewhere to a private buyer.
Thanks for the opportunity to post here, and all the feedback.

To Framed: "One of those copycat wannabee's?" I would assume that unless anyone is actually a costumer in the film industry, everyone else could be labeled by that rather derogatory term, yourself included. It's all down to how you are percieved by others. Most of us prefer "Die-Hard Fans" I believe Copy-cat wannabee's is a term that does not really belong or befit people who hold a particular interest in movie iconography, short-term or otherwise. It's all for fun and I still enjoy the costumes, but I just have no use for anything like that anymore. You think I am too serious? really?? you can gauge my mood and temperament from a few typed posts?? Incredible! My man.....You are a legend!

Until Fury Road 2011!

cheers.

i think its really cool someone has found a matching belt. being an extensive costume researcher myself, ive believed i had the genuine article in my hand many a time before checking the movie in question again and discovering yet another detail i hadnt noticed. i wish costumers would produce books detailing exactly what they used! as for the double clip pouch, i got one of those but its brown and used for a shoulder holster, so no straps to attach it to a normal belt

Hey look! ^^^^

That guy called it a "Clip" Pouch too! You better call the P.C. Police and have someone promptly "correct" or "educate" him on the incorrect terminology used there

I know I did say I wouldn't post again, but this post is to let you all know that this subject is pretty much now closed, as the belt was sold to a military re-enactment organisation, who do some film and tv work. Which leaves the Knife and Pouch. I don't think these are worth my time to sell, as on their own they aren't worth enough in dollar value to warrant the time and hassles to sell them abroad. I know they are worth whatever someone is prepared to pay, as the axe pouch is pretty much spot on to movie accuracy. However as it has survived all these years in such great condition, it would break my heart knowing that someone may for the sake of total accuracy (which does seem extreme) ruin it by weathering/ageing/tenderising it etc... Just to look like a fictional movie character. I think in that instance it would be advisable to use scrap leather and make something as weathered as you like. Until recently it hadn't actually dawned on me, that if it sold with the belt, someone out there would carelessly and foolishly rough it up, and ruin it's condition...call me Naieve I probably was! The Axe pouch I have, has history! It was part of a fireman's lifesaving equipment. It served me well without modification as part of my costume, and no-one batted an eyelid. I never heard anyone state that it looks too new, or that's not right it's too clean etc....
I would really like it to stay this way, I think it deserves that honor at least. So it will likely find a new home in a fire memorabilia collectors home, or I may query my uncle to see if he knows any fellow firemen who will continue to look after it well.

So to finalise, this topic is now closed...thank you one and all for the interesting posts, and interest, and have a safe and merry christmas!

I'm not going THERE again. I stirred up too much already. ;)

Just thought I'd follow up on this thread, since Dragonforce hasn't posted anything yet.

Dragonforce and I had a discussion about belts over email and we concluded, based on screen caps and photos of his belt and British Sam Browne belts, that Max's belt was indeed a British pattern Sam Browne belt as I have held for the last few years. There were a lot of characteristics specific to the British belt that we were able to identify on the hi-def screen shots.

I even discovered something new in the process: Max's belt appears to have been cut down from its original length. Sam Browne belts normally have a row of single holes after the double holes end. Max's belt abruptly ends after only one single hole, and the belt is tightened down 7 holes: ample evidence that the belt was several inches longer than ideal length and was cut down to minimize the amount of extra belt hanging out the side.
