I can honestly say that if I could get the metal work done pro for $12k or under, I would seriously consider it. Only because I would probably be looking at an investment of at least $7000 for tools alone (I have pretty much NOTHING other than basic hand tools). One of the things I am kinda hoping is that the cost of the repairs will be reduced because I will have all the patch panels, and I will also be restoring the shell only.

I'm gonna pick up some wheel dollies today so I can move the car around a little easier and get the rest of the stuff pulled off.

If it were here in Victoria we might be able to do it. It's not too far gone so don't loose hope. Have had worse come through the shop and turn out excellent.

We fixed up a '67 Camaro RS convertable that had been chopped up with an axe and blow torch in the 80's and sat ever since...panel beater in Oz had it in new metal and just about ready for paint in 2 weeks.. It needed quarters, firewall, all hang on panels, windshield frame, outer cowl areas, and a rear floor patch.

Everything is fixable to a point...just depends on what time and $$$ you go through

The funny part is, I pretty much have the time. I have no kids (w00t), and saint for a wife, and a whole lot of drive. The crappy part is, I can only make money so fast. So I am kinda working in slow motion as I have to save up for each step, which sucks. What also sucks is that I have 2 other vehilces that I really want to work on and they are on the back burner for now.

I've tried the multiple projects at once and that just doesn't seem to work for me. Concentrating on one thing (for money reasons and keeping mind on track) seems to make projects go better for me.
I'm doing the Torana now, and won't start another big project until it's done. I'll probably do another container back from Oz in the next few months (waiting to hear about a deal on another Charger), but I won't buy anything to keep.....I keep telling myself

Back out to the garage to work on building the driver's side header now...

Yeah, I have been going crazy over the last 2 months trying to decide where to throw my money. I want to get my VehiCROSS repainted, I need to do an engine swap on my Trooper, and then therz the Falcon. My Trooper is my daily driver, and runs fine, but it has an old GM2.8v6 in her that is just old and tired. Run fine, but man, my Trooper is lifted with 33"s and a huge safari rack and it sucks going up hills here in Reno. Top speed is like 55 in 3rd.

Somehow, I have decided to start on the Falcon though. So I have kinda put the other projects out of my head for now. I can take care of them anytime down the road. Right now, I am saving up for the body kit. The way I look at it, is as soon as I get that huge expense taken care of, I just need to start buying the tools needed and get moving on the project. By this time next year I would really like to have the body work complete and the car back together. This is easily the biggest 'project' of any kind I have ever taken on.

Sounds like you do have a few irons in the fire!
I want to get my VehiCROSS repainted
I thought they were all plastic body panels on the outside anyways?

I just bought some stainless bits (bends and collectors) for my header build....that sure eats away budget money fast :o

The lower half is covered in polypropelene cladding, yes, but the upper half is regular steel. :) My last big camping trip earned my VehiCROSS some NASTY trail rash. plus I have a lot of rock chips and a few minor dents I want fixed.
