It's a tough call; no matter what you're wearing, you want people to see you and your hard work. I agree that the lowest attendance day will probably be Friday...and I see some good points either way...so maybe instead of theme days, there could just be coordination between costume factions about when to wear what. Maybe set up a schedule so we have "11am Saturday: Arrival of Humungus and marauder horde"; "5pm Saturday: MFP Officer reunion and photo-op"; and so on. So you can wear what you want when you want, but you don't overlap or miss out on group events.

Also, are there going to be organized activities (sack races, bobbing for apples) ;) or will it be pretty much just a free-for-all? And are we blowing up a scale model of the refinery on Saturday night or what? :D

well we have our shower all sorted

i will have my madmax 1 outfit with me too, and my 2nd outfit is a mixture of 2 & 3, and kaz can make hers a lil different also but then she dont have a max1 outfit.

im going to go along with ever what is decided, humvee has 2000 klms to travel thats like from one side a Aust to the other, on the other hand we have over 13,000 klms to travel, and half our suitcases are our outfits... so im not realy fussed with what the agenda is. Just go with the flow.

Games are a great idea, some car shows do them here, tyres races, starter shot put, and spark plug changing comp, there are many more that people will
think of, we even have rocker cover races here. Which brings another thing is there going to be a model display and if there is i may bring my post apoplolictic
model, which reminds me i must take a pic of it.

Also did you know hiring a RV you have to pay extra hire for burning man events, its in the fine print, but being a madmax event and at a different time
and in a different state this does not aply.

I will be posting pics of our outfits next week after we return from the Ford Coupe event here in Australia.

I think it's a good idea. I am planning to have my own personal "wasteland bandit" outfit on however.

I'm bringing my camp shower. Got to any outdoor store and spend $20 on one. They work great.

I was thinking a cool 'event' idea would be some organized scene reenactments. Maybe some HUMVEEDRIVER Humungous speeches or something would be nice. Maybe a little boomerang finger scene, something like that. :)

That sounds like the best way to go about it.

We were planning races and car shows and things. We'll have to cement all of that in the next month or so, and get a program of events together.

I'll have to confirm this one, but I believe you may not be allowed to let your dirty soapy water (aka greywater) contaminate the dry lake soil. People with showers will want to think about ways to contain their greywater for later disposal. But again, let me check on that...

So this is not BLM land? I have to bring my chihuahua so I hope there is no issue with that, otherwise I am in trouble... :?

Obviously, we can leave and come back to the event anytime we want, correct?

Karol,

If I am not mistaken, this is the info straight from the BLM managment site for El Mirage. Please correct me if I am wrong.

http://www.blm.gov/ca/st/en/fo/barstow/mirage.html

Looks pretty straight forward.

I like this:
Camping is permitted on the lakebed, but no more than 100 feet from the edge. This keeps the smooth center section of the lakebed clear for night riders.

Actually, I hope to do some night driving on the lake bed myself. Off roading at night is simply awesome.

I'd just like to chime in and say the probably the easiest way to do things is to do as Madmaximages suggested and not have theme days at all, but have some scheduled events and photo-ops that are themed so that people can join them dressed appropriately if they want i.e. "Saturday at noon is Main Force Patrol portrait, if you have an MFP uniform, please join us" or "Humungous will be leading a convoy into camp just before sundown on Saturday, have your vehicle at the entrance at 4pm if you want to join in) etc.

I told Karol that any racing we do should maybe be on Sunday, so that any damage to vehicles or people won't interfere with our Friday and Saturday photo ops. : )
