I dont think it would be smart to hack up that nice of short bed. (for a somewhat ugly MM2 truck) short box trucks are woth alot of money! Find a rusty one dude. Yes they are collectible here in MO! Ive been looking since 1994!

Found a perfect starter vehicle for this project. Not sure the asking price though, it's not listed. Might get some people mad though, hacking up a pristine rig, but these old F100s aren't that hard to come by or that collectible for that matter (at least IMO).

Yeah, looking at the "Over prices" on their other offerings, Im guessing 14,000 - 22,000 for that Shortie!
I gotta be really glad I got mine, not only because mine NEEDS this (it was destined to be stripped of its mechanicals to build up aonther truck), but because I couldent hack up a nice shorty [like MadMatt points out] and I couldent even hope to buy that one at my guessed price.

Scattergun & BlownV8: I cant wait to get some progress pix up and see this project to the end [meaning Ill have something to show for my efforts too]. The windshield will be fairly easy from the looks of it...... but I am contemplating, um, complicating things for myself by building the roof into a "Clip On" hardtop for long travels (like to Roadwar NW and especially the 3500 mile round trip to the Mad Max event in Barstow).

The good news/bad news for the day:
BAD:
Driveline TOTALLY trashed, bent, dented, expander splines worn out, U-joints toast............. So it needs re-tubed, New spline section, New Joints, Balanced..... I dont even want to go into how much that costs (but for all the work it is reasonable, and by the shop that does all the race drivelines for us)
GOOD:
I will have it back before the weekend. Better than new. So I will be taking the truck for the Shakedown drive soon.

I don't know if this has been covered yet, but for rims (if it's a 5 bolt) you could probably get away with using stock 88-92 F150 rims spray painted black, they're cheap & failry common, any junkyard should have at least 4.

I got My driveline back from Drivelines NW, and got it in. Truck runs good, and shifts well, but makes nasty clunking, only when in neutral with clutch out.
So... There is some tranny issue after all, but it is minimal.
Actually used the truck to haul my newly aquired 1955 commander off the trailer (wheels locked, so it wouldent let gravity take care of it).
I think I have the wheels worked out. Im keeping my eyes out on cl, but if nothing comes through cheap, I can get them for about $25 each at a used wheel place down the way.
I have been distracted upgrading the brakes on my XA Bat, and generally readying it for ripping up the dry lake bed at the new event location..... So I need to make progress on the F100 next.
