Badge & Magnets
Badge & Magnets
Yep clear as mud Bronze. I quite understand too.
Several years ago I wandered into McDonalds in my home town wearing my leathers while on the way to a weekend biker rally. Some oiks thought it humorous to start singing YMCA referring to the gay boy biker in the line up. I suppose they must have thought the three of them would appear intimidating to me being on my own and all. But I thought what the hell and just sauntered over to them, the closer I got the quieter they became, until I was standing right at their table. Y'know it was like I was having an out of body experience. My mind was saying: just walk away and leave it, but my body was saying: Shut these little turds up NOW!
Anyways I stood there looking down at them expecting at any moment for some violence to start but nope, they just shut up and didn't make eye contact with me. I just said: "I thought so." in the most condescending voice I could muster and left without buying my polyunsaturated monoglutemated recycled polystyrene meal.
About 3 miles down the road I was beating myself up for being so bloody stupid but I also felt good too for not backing down. Had it been nowadays I'd have gotten stabbed or at least the sh*t kicked out of me for sure.
Quite understand why you'd not choose to wear a badge in this day and age. Wise man.
By the way I'm not by any means a violent person nor am I that confrontational really choosing to talk rather than lash out with fists. But it seems, the very image of some "roughty toughty biker" does seem to shut the average Joe up in a confrontation, it's all about image I suppose.
