Dead Reckoning looks like the ba$tard creation between a ships container and a road going train. I won't be watching the Land of the dead film since Zombie films terrify me on a molecular level as has been mentioned in previous postings. Nope the Interceptor still beats it for looks. Now the Aliens APC on the other hand...

Foxtrot X-ray I won't argue with you since I'm not sure what's going on in that shot, you're idea sounds plausable as are the others suggested... guess we'll never know. Pretty sure it's not the dialogue below:

"You want me to do what with that feather duster and the snake?!... Hmmm, what's my motivation? Errr George I have to ask; would Max Rockatansky actually do such a thing? Could I have another cappacino late to go please."

the pic is from rehersals. the 'second' BoB was used ONLY for the wreck. i am in broken hill right now, meeting the people involved, seeing the real pics, and hearing the stories. its not a film frame. its a publicity shot from pre production. the front end was smashed in the first scene filmed. end of story.

Hey, jmu2000!

I checked out your site; it has the makings of something great. Its good to have another Mad Max site out there! Let us know when you update it.

I'm interested in the sticker set from the Japanese program. Is there any way you could e-mail me a full size image of the sickers? I would love to see all the details shown there. Please let me know.

Thanks! I'll do what I can for it as time permits (between the little things like work, eating, sleeping etc of course!).

The scan of the sticker page on the link above is actual size. I guess it must have been a freebie when it was issued but the images are interesting. If you would like an enlarged scan rather than the life size one available above, let me know.

jmu2000,

I'd appreciate the biggest scan you can send me. I'm trying to get together images for my website, http://www.madmaxmodels.com. I'm making a section showing the details of the vehicles so people can get them right for their model cars. That sticker set (which I've been searching for for years) has some great shots you don't see in the movie and is just what I need. I'm at mailto:[email protected]. I'll be sure to put your name in the credits. Thanks!

Have to disagree with ya Dirty J ! The second car was also used in the 'creek' 'Gyro' shot , max pulls up in the double car, the steering wheel is standard amongst other differences.

I have spoke to several people on 2 visits to Broken Hill who say both cars were used just as much as each other with the 'real' interceptor more for the close ups.

"Damnation Alley". Who could forget those giant insects or the city full of those titanium eating cockroaches?

Sincerely,

Tom

Pray that he's still out there... somewhere...

The Urban Assault Vehicle!!! Not that I paid that much attention to it in the film, more the mudwrestling girls in the scene with John Candy!! How I envied him! "I'm a lean mean fighting machine!!" ... Lean? Errr I don't think so.

Now the Landmaster was a hot looking truck I always wondered how it steered though since those front wheels looked locked in forward facing.

Those bugs ate all soft furnishings including flesh. Titanium Tom? Naaaahhhhhhhh they'd break their little peckers on that! Beside his roles as Banacek and Blue Max that was the only time I had any respect for George Peppard. A-team made me hang my head in shame. Had some cool home made vehicles though when the got locked in garages loaded with tools and handy pointy things to weld together and escape... at least in episodes I actually watched that is. Why their captors didn't waste 'em I'll never know. Mr T would have got plugged first simply for existing! No other motivation than that would be needed for me! LOL!

The section in the middle of Landmaster is articulated.

She turns by basically bending in the middle.

I haven't seen the movie itself since I was a Kid.

Read the book it was "based on", Survival Run more recently.

I'm thinking the movie should have followed the book more.

(Although, in either case the Mutants (Animals & People) should have been replaced by a rogue Human element..)

Would love to see a modern take on Landmaster as described in the book. I ened up picturing it quite similar to the Aliens APC.

Well, i'll ask Ian Mitchell when I'm having dinner at his house this weekend. He's the guy doing the 'Back 2 The Max' stuff. He told me specificly, the double was ONLY used in the wreak. I'd love to argue the point, but I'm a firm beliver in the old addage "Arguing on the 'net is like running in the Special Olympics. Even if you win, your still retarded!"

Thanks Dirty J. I'm not getting obsessive about this, just very curious. I guess I'm really hoping for the lost footage angle more than anything, but in retrospect it does look very similar to the area Max met Gyro. That kind of sand desert wasn't shown in the opening chase sequence which appeared more like gravel.

Have to agree with you on that closing remark too. Harsh, but true nonetheless.
