Hey Biker,I found most of my music on Kazaa.I started out with Napster in october of '99(napster only started in august of '99) and have been 'stealing' music ever since(according to the RIAA).I can send you some of the titles of the good mixes so you won't have to search/download/listen to see if you like everything that is out there.I am by NO means a computer guru,I know just enough to get into trouble,I have used some pretty cool programs and even MADE my own Mad Max song.I downloaded a techno song called 'Interceptor' (of course) by Hypertraxx, used my creative 5.1 soundcard's record feature and captured neat sound bits from Mad Max and Road Warrior, then used a mixing program called Acid by Soundforge to mix it all togather.I have heard other Max type songs that folks have made and it seems that they try to fit everything cool in all at once.I didn't do that because then I wouldn't have anything left to make a sequel with.I wound up taking a five minute song and making it nine and a half minutes long with a lot of cool sound bytes.I used to have it posted on my Yahoo replica car club, but it was so big that I had to split it into two parts.Since I have run out of space in the club,I had to take it down.Anyway, good luck and Cheers,Bill

Sounds like you got hold of one of the "DIY" series punk/new wave compilations. Probaby the UK pop 1 or 2.
For those that like Rammstein, check out Laibach, not as heavy, sometimes not heavy at all, but with far more substance and you can see where Rammstein got their schtick.
For me, punk (my dad calls it 'the screaming music'), wave, industrial, techno, acid-banging monkey (somehow I think banging monkey music sounds better than monkey banging music. Perhaps the latter is to set the mood....), rock (if it stands out), and other craziness.
I'm kind of partial to some soundtracks: Mortal Kombat, Red Planet, Fifth Element, Escape from New York, Dune (by Toto, no less), Ecks vs. Severs, and my favorite, Hardware.

Hi Torinscj, for someone who says they know their way around a PC enough to get into trouble you're head shoulders above me!! I've heard and seen Kazaa running from a mate in the US when I visited him came back home with 3 CD's full of MP3 music only a small dent in his collection. Sadly Kazza is waaaaay out of my range since I rely on a dial up connection (remember those?) living in rural France has its drawbacks. I should count myself lucky at least I have a phone line!
That MM music mix sounds VERY interesting. Remember Celine Dion sang the theme song to The Titanic theme well I heard a a version mixed with excerpts from the film? I'm guessing it's something like that. no?
I'm already a memebr of your Yahoo group so I'll slide over there now and send you an email directly regarding trading something for CD's OK? C'ya
Hi Detritus, That DIY version of Ace of Spades was actually sold in the local shop though I didn't get a CD of it sadly. Maybe something like that was done and sold nationally but it's a damn fine version of it. 100% Motorhead just extended and remixed. Glad someone else likes the theme to Mortal Kombat. I couldn't get enough of that CD when I first heard it. Ages ago there was a thread about which music Max could have listened to. I suggested Mortal Kombat, it's just so aggressive and Baaaaaad! I've got the Dune one too.
Have you heard the soundtracks to Hackers or BladeRunner? Both very good. For something completly off the beaten track I couldn't recommend highly enough the soundtrack to "O Brother where art thou?" It's really good.. see the film first for a taster. Another great soundtrack is of the animated film Heavy Metal great mix of songs on that as well. Last but by no means least The Rocky Horror Picture Show.
I've been giving this thread some thought today while decorating the living room and while slapping paint everywhere except the walls I was listening to The Alan Parsons Project. I stumbled onto them back in '82 and have yet to get tired of listening to the 10 CD's I have. Heard Pink Floyds Dark side of the Moon? (silly question I know) Well Alan Parsons had a major influence in its production so if you like that album then treat your ears to some pure Parsons work, you won't be disappointed. I guarantee it.

Yeah, I remember high school....lots of Pink Floyd and Alan Parsons. King Crimson, too. Oddly enough, Dark Side is not my favorite. I prefer Wish You Were Here, The Wall, or Meddle.
Hackers is good, Bladerunner is fantastic if you get the Vangelis version. Speaking of Vangelis, how about Aphrodite's Child '666'?
I've been picking up a lot of stuff by Steve Joliffe, formerly of Tanferine Dream. Also, on the Horizon label, Radio Massacre International. A bit more subdued than Pink Floyd, but they are excellent for a nice surreal mood/ambient sound (Borrowed Atoms, Organ Harvest, and Zabriskie Point).
There is also this guy...Dr. Adamski, currently known as Adam Sky. he is a DJ composer of some note in Europe. He is a product of the 80's, so his music is a little different than othert DJ's. Anyway, his CD 'Naughty' has a Mad Max sample (Johnny the Boy, stoned again, rambling while laying against the side of Max's car) at the very beginning of the first song.

Biker, fire me off an email with your address and I will burn you an MP3 disk with my Mad Max song and some 80 remixed stuff and drop it in the mail.My uncle was a tail gunner durring WW2 and was shot down over France. The french town where he was captured has a memorial in it to the two crew members that died in the crash and the grandson of the farmer who's barn the plane crashed into, used a metal detector and dug up pieces of the plane that the germans hadn't carted away and he took them to the base in england that the plane was from and presented them to the museum there. My uncle did 18 months in a POW camp and was very special to me.Sadly he has been gone since 1989,but I am still proud of what he did and went through.Cheers,Bill
