Big Bopper,I might be wrong but the first Holden Commodore,VB Series 1978,was based on the German Opel. The following models were Australian designed etc and the Monaro(GTO2004) is a varient of the latest Commodore VT,VU,VX Series. There are LHD models of this Commodore being exported as re-badged Chev Lumina and other Chev's around the world.I have seen a shipment of LHD Commodores -Chev Omega-heading for Brazil last week. Also the luxury model Holden called Statesman is manufactured LHD and re-badged as Caddilac for Mid-East exports.NYPD were looking at importing the Holden Statesman as a large RWD cruiser with V8 power.
OzHemi,Nice choice of Monaro! The HQ,72-75,were the best Monaro's,Nightrider's preferred choice of stolen MFP vehicle.

They have talked about bringing the Commodore here for years as police cars/taxis. I had a pic from about 4 or 5 years ago of them doing hot weather testing in the Arizona with a RHD one.

Aussie Fords in Dearborn USA. There are 4 Australian Ford Falcons in the US,An entry level XT,The XR6 and XR6 Turbo and the Fairmont Ghia. They are being reviewed as possible Mustang platforms for the 2007 model with Ford Australia playing a role in developing components and underpinnings for its US parent. It is not likely that Ford is looking at a performance car in the same way GM has in regards to introducing the Pontiac GTO 2004 as a re-badged Monaro from Australia.
But you never know...
I don't have to work witha blasphemer....
