Fury Road-Transcendental Progression

Funny, you know I think Motar might have something with his theory, even if he is blaspheming. Well I guess I'm blaspheming too. I got a strange feeling this could be the last we see of Max Rockatansky. I do feel though that if he goes it will be his choice, either as a sacrifice to save someone special, or more likely just because of the way the world and the human race has degenerated.

I'm just thinking (A dangerous pastime) that not trying to put as much horse under, or through, the hood of Maxs' beloved Black is simply...dishonest. It is THE ultimate postal vehicle from Hell. To put anything less than the best on your replica (outside of individual budget) just doesn't seem right...guess I'm thinking like the Night Rider, you know, born to strike down the unroadworthy. The car has all of the styling ques for speed, horsepower, purpose-built modifications, the gnarly/growling exhaust and everything painted black to give it THAT look that get's my ol pumper going and scares me a little too. I'm sorry, but the Knight Rider or the General Lee don't even compare when it comes to looks or even purpose in comparison. They have their settings, but just aren't king of the mountain like the Black is...

I agree with Bronze21. The Interceptor in the movie universe had a working blower and 600hp. The performance was well depicted in the movies, and so the car has a reputation as a mover. I always told myself that if I had an Interceptor replica, it would have to achive a certain minimum level of performance. Otherwise, it would be unworthy of the name. I wouldn't take a straight six car and put a coat of paint and Mad Max plates on it. People would laugh! I almost didn't get the Goss because it has a 302, not a 351.

Anyway, go as fast as your budget allows. But keep in mind that racing should be limited to the track. At least without provocation. I don't go looking for races, and I don't like it when people race, or zip around in traffic because they think they have a hot car. I just want the performance to not be toyed with on the road, and to back up the looks of the car. All show and no go doesn't cut it with me.

Here's your soapbox back...

Thanks mate, I feel taller when I'm on it.

I came up with some more plate ideas on your post "Falcon Restoration" if you'll have a look.

Like Mitch said, realistically how much would it take to build a healthy 351 w/ a 6:70to1, then fog it? One could get somewhere around the 400-450 mark pretty easy with how much of a realistic budget? In my opinion, if you have one of the old classic muscle cars, the horse (either at the flywheel or at the wheels (preferably at the wheels)) should match the engines displacement. On the 'Ceptor, put as much horse as you can afford. If any of the general populace has any inkling of what the car is, I think reputation would proceed it. Besides, seeing this black monstrosity with the blower sticking out the hood, the rake of the body, the spoilers and those phat tires, maybe full limo black tint all around, and the lub-lubing roar of the engine/exhaust will definitely turn heads and hopefully send some of the smarter "Tunas" packing. With that, you know in your mind that some little 1:1 scale RC toy won't be able to keep up. He might outcorner you, but XB's were meant for the Outback straightaways mostly, but could be made to corner modestly. I think for a budget of $15-$20 Grand (total) you could build a monster suicide machine.

Nah, I'm tired...

So anyone else try to predict the plot based upon the Joseph Cambell hero mythology? I do see a sacrificial possibility in store for Max. I just hope it has some message and food for thought instead of a straight out action ripoff. Considering George Miller and Mel Gibson's reputations, I expect some very good things.

Wish I could've seen a black XB lurking around in Babe II. Babe had Blue Heelers as the poacher dogs. I guess Border Collies are more audience friendly.

Outside of the vehicular mayhem aspect, what else would everybody like to see out of the film?

The Terminator series as proven one thing.

That in a movie, almost anything is plausible. T100 gets crushed in the first movie, is replaced by an exact replica in the second and then is promptly melted only to be reformed and shown again in T3.

Who knows what the crazy mechanic was working on before or after Max left. There could be lots of "candy" stored away. Fury Road implies mobility, vehicles, and mayhem.

I only hope Max's vehicle is recognizable as a modified real car.

Speaking of T3, if you go to http://www.terminator3.com, they have the brand new trailer online... looks like this one should be pretty good after all.

I just want a return to the "white line nightmare" give me grandiose car chases, and lots of 'em!

Have I missed something? Who says it is set between 2 & 3?? Mel is so much older now it wouldn't make sense to set this film before Thunderdome.

Please, tell me more! If there is anyone with reliable info, that is.

Yeah you're right MFP559, Mel is older now so I think that Fury Road will be definitively a sequel (after Thunderdome). I only hope that they give us back our hero as his best, I mean as the Road Warrior.
