Requested permission to access the Pumping Station at Spotswood recently and Museum Victoria/Scienceworks staff said I'm welcome to visit the courtyard via the main gate but the internals (tower stairwell, offices, circular window etc) are definitely no public access due to structural integrity issues. Bummer!
As for access to the Western Treatment Plant (Point Wilson Road where Roop's bunker is located), staff at the Western Treatment Plant haved quoted, "No issues if people restrict themselves to walking directly from the road to the middle bunker. People should not be concerned about passing the restricted area signs on Point Wilson Road at the intersection of Beach Road. There should be no issue from a security point of view if people stop on the side of the road and walk to the bunker. They must not however go beyond the bunker or across grasslands".
In other news, The Melbourne University Traffic and Parking Coordinator has stated on a recent visit enquiry (driving my vehicle to the South Car Park, MFP's underground garage), that "This is OK with me. You will need to enter via Gate 10 on Grattan Street".
Stop Press! The 'shop' at the beach on Avalon Road has a for sale sign in the window!
So call Kevin if you're interested in a piece of film history:

Have a guess what this one is...
