Re: Prometheus trailer
It's worth remembering that although Blade Runner is very well regarded now, it did not do so well in its original theatrcal run, and I think that affected Ridley's career for a little while there. I haven't seen all his stuff, but thought Black Hawk Down and Gladiator were extremely good, and also liked American Gangster and even Black Rain back in the 80's. Thelma & Louise was OK (but not totally my kind of movie), and I remember seeing 1492 and thinking that was way long and overdone (and not that interesting). For every big film he's done he seems to have done another one or two that hasn't done so well (mostly the ones I have not seen!).biolumen wrote:I've always felt that Ridley made 3 classic movies to start his career, but since then has failed to make anything that matched. Technically, all of his movies are well made, but imo his style took a turn after Blade Runner and his movies haven't been the same since. Now, I'm not expecting Prometheus to be at the level of those earlier films, but I am hoping for the best.
Prometheus definitely looks the goods though, and I can't wait to see it.

It's okay. I've watched it a few times. I think it's way over rated though, and it pales in comparison to his early works.toecutter wrote:So you dont rate 'Gladiator' Biolumen ?
Now that Prometheus is officially rated R, I wonder if WB and Miller are going that way with Fury Road. There's hope.
