Today I went to the lot where I keep the Machine, intending on loading it on the trailer and seeing how it fit. After a few mintues in the freezing cold weather (15 degrees), it started up and about ten minutes after that it would hold an idle without stalling.
I start the Machine like this about once a month, just to run it for a bit so it doesn't sit too long. Last winter I couldn't get the shifter to move. I figured the trans was too cold. After it warmed up it shifted fine. I was anticipating the same thing this time around.
Sure enough, the shifter wouldn't budge. After running for about 30 mintues, it still wouldn't move. So I guess the heat from the engine still wasn't enough to thaw it or whatever. I even tried tapping the trans linkage with a hammer, trying to move the actual shifter cable, and chaining it to my truck and yanking it (hoping to jar something loose), but I couldn't get it to move.
So I don't know how it will sit on the trailer, but I'm not anticipating any problems with that. I am a little concerned with this shifter business. Anyone have to deal with this before?

You may have gotten rain water in it and it is know ICE
If you don't mind freezing your nuts off unhook the cable from the shifter and the trans and see what moves
Also make sure the machine is not jamming the parking peg
