I'm no expert on Aussie models, but is your Torana possibly based on the US Vega?

Nope, it is different from a Vega in every way really... bigger engine bay, different shape engine bay, suspension, longer and wider in the body, etc, etc. Just a sort of similar hatchback style I suppose..

The front suspension is similar to a first gen Camaro, the rear is sort of like an early Chevelle with longer (by a fair bit) lower control arms. I have adjustable upper control arms (rear that is) that are actually Chevelle part numbers (the factory length is not the same, but within a 1/2" or so....the adjustable ones work perfectly !

The cars are quite stiff too, the design of the body with crossmembers and structure through the floor works really well.

That's probably it. Body style and nose reminded me of one.

There is some family resemblance, but if you looked at them together, you would see how much bigger the Torana is.. (Used to know a local guy with a SBC powered Vega and parked next to him one time at a cruise night...was night and day I thought  )

But there is also the Torana resemblance there too...

Back in high school a lot of guys bought them because they were cheap and you could hop them up pretty well.

That Torana is cool looking... chunky. Looks like it can really go.

It's an Afco....excellent build quality too it looks like! I have used a bunch of the 'Summit" house brand ones before, but they did not do a double pass version so went with Afco...they do great shocks too
Have to order a fan too shortly....going with a Spal twin 11" one I think (just have to double check the measurements)
