Maybe it's because Bubba kills with absolutely no remorse or excuse. For him, killing is just a way of life. You can argue that Mudguts, Toecutter and Johnny have more feelings or excuses to be violent. As for Mudguts, he may be sleazy and psychotic but there is nothing to suggest he was a murderer as he was merely an accessory to Jesse's murder. He didn't really care either way. He was evil, but not quite on the level of Bubba. You know for a fact that he was a potential rapist. However, it's clear from his nervous reaction to Toecutter's shotgun blast that he was probably as much a slave to Toecutter as Johnny was. Mudguts lacked that killer instinct and obeyed Toecutter immediately after being told to get away from the mannequin. Basically, Mudguts was servile. Bubba was greedy and ruthless by comparison, or so it appeared. He shot the mannequin like it was nothing, and then casually observed Goose being torched. Later, both he and the Toecutter mow down Max's family. It was also Bubba who tried to torture and SLOWLY kill Max in an ambush. I can even argue that the Toecutter wasn't as evil as Bubba, since he was good enough to stand by Nightrider's coffin while the others wreaked havoc. Much of his violence stems from a need to avenge Nightrider's memory. Like Johnny and Mudguts, he was proved to be too cowardly after Max killed Bubba. Leaving the comparitively fearless Bubba to be the most purely evil character of the film. Regarding, Johnny, I would give him a 20-30 initially (10-15 if he actually raped the girl). After Goose's murder, he would fit in the 5-10 range.

Please don't take this as an insult, because it's not. Reading your post gives me the impression that you'redcampbell007 wrote:That supposedly 'good' tribe member from The Road Warrior. I guess you can call him Pappagallo's right hand man, and he was my least favorite of the entire crew. He was whiny and solicitous the minute Max arrives at the refinery. I guess you can say Zetta was understandably nervous and hesitant like everyone else. Then, he complains about Pappagallo letting Max go. Only to reveal he's just interested in keeping his vehicle rather than Max's welfare or the welfare of others. Such insensitivity is further shown when Zetta later says to Max, "you couldn't even ride a wheelchair". Insensitive considering how Max earlier tried to save Nathan's life even if it was solely for the purpose of getting gasoline. Any 'good' traits of Zetta's character is totally contradicted by his brutal attitude towards the raiders in the climactic chase scene. At one point, he incinerates a vehicle full of marauders. Not only that, but he laughs hysterically and derives great satisfaction from doing so. I call that sadism. Would heroes or 'good' guys be so gleeful after killing a bunch of baddies? I didn't really feel bad at all when Zetta died. I just figured he was a duplicitous scumbag who got what was coming to him. The more I think about it, Pappagallo was maybe even a bigger scumbag. Were there any 'good' people in The Road Warrior? What about the Gyro Captain and his cute girlfriend?
VERY young, or incredibly naive. Concepts of "good" and "bad" are pretty arbitrary in society. There is no good
or bad, those are childish concepts. There is only survival. If kindness promotes survival, you use kindness. If brutality promotes survival, you use brutality. Adult life calls for a mix of both behaviors, and most of us get it wrong a lot of the time, that's the way reality is. Maybe that's your point, that a fantasy movie should transcend reality more. Maybe.

Zetta is as suspicious and ambiguous as any other Defender in the Refinery. Remember, the Defenders are just surviving the best they can --- they also turned into warriors to accomplish that --- and if you want to survive in the Wasteland, well, you must prepare yourself to kick butts and fight anything remotely dangerous breathing around your padded neck.
And Max was fucking dangerous, guys. He looked like a cross bewteen a Gayboy Berserker and a Mohawker. Plus an additional amount of badasseness.
You can't trust a Road Warrior.
So I don't blame Zetta. Maybe he was just pissed off because MM1 and MM3 didn't get a BD treatment yet. He felt bad to star on a stand-alone BD movie.
But I don't blame him. He was just struggling to survive as all Defenders did for years.
Terrific costume, besides. I love his look.

Zetta's a good right-hand man
He gives Pappagallo pause, makes him think. Pappi will do what he wants in the end, but it's good to hear other viewpoints.
I admit Zetta rubs me a little wrong, but I don't dislike him.
