I just watched the movie again, and yes, every time you see Max's shotgun in it's holster you can see the barrels sticking out of the open bottom. I never really noticed it before, but there it is.
I received the holster in the mail today, and I am very happy with it. I'm going to see how it looks with everything else right now.

Humvee,
We'd love to see a pic of the holster strapped on, but if we have to wait for some post Dragon Con pics, that's okay too.

Here is a clear shot of the holster if you want to go movie correct. The holster sits flatter, as he had trouble reholstering when he got back to the Gyrocopter. The bottom left edge is rounder, shows correctly where the side studs go, and the riveted loop is lower.
Hope this helps...

Yup, that's one of the photos that the Magnolia Leather replica was based off of. It's from a promo shot, making it a bit clearer than some of the screen shots from the DVD.
One thing that should be noted is that I was told the photos on the previous page of the empty Magnolia holster were taken when the shotgun had just been removed, so they retain a bit of a shotgun shape. But if you push on the leather it flattens out much like the original in the Road Warrior pic above (just in case anyone misunderstood and thought this replica was more of a "molded" holster)
So that deals with the flatter part. As for the bottom left edge being rounder - possibly. I'm waiting to see a picture of the Magnolia holster flattened out before I can be sure.
The loop may be a bit too high, but it's one rivet so it's easy to move. Also, bear in mind that the loop swivels, so it's angled up in the Magnolia shot, angled down in the promo shot above, and goes straight across in some of the other movie scenes. This could make it look a bit higher or lower from shot to shot.
The rivet placement on the replica is correct. Two rivets under the belt, one attaching the loop, on on the bottom right and six down the left hand side, (with the first four rivets on the left side being evenly spaced while the bottom two rivets are close together).
The only slight difference is that the very bottom rivet on the left hand side in the movie version looks a little different. That one is either a different rivet (maybe different size, different color, or flatter head), or has some dirt on it, or is even possibly partly pulled through the leather (possible because this rivet is attached to the bottom thigh strap and might have some extra stress on it).
I've looked at the holster shots in the movie a lot (including on bluray) and I'm not 100% sure what the deal is with that bottom rivet, I just know it looks different. When I receive my Magnolia holster I may simply swap out that bottom rivet for a different one and see how it looks. Because I'm crazy obsessive like that.

If my girl ever finds this forum I will never hear the end of it. "You're counting the number of rivets in some movie holster?! How about you remember my birthday? Or at least take out the trash!".
