Pat, The day after your first post I took the car on the Hume Hwy to Winton racetrack in Central Victoria and attended practice day for the classic winton event.
I was only there to see a friends car that had been restored from a burnt wreck. It was in a shed fire about 15 years ago and is the last of only 12 ever made. When I arrived with my cousin in law I was anticipting parking in the car in the public car park but a staff member directed us straight into pit lane so we ended up cruising through the race areas and had a good look around (and of course got a lot of looks). There were so many cars of various vintages and backgrounds but Max still got a fair amount of attention. We got a few cheers and a lot of smiles as we rolled through.
"Maxxie !!!"
"Last of the V-8's"
You boys most likely get the same when you are out cruising too.
We met up with John and he showed us his car.

a 1953 Lou Molina special

Built back up after a shed fire all but destroyed it.

Most of the parts had to be reproduced from photographs.

The entire frame and body is made from alloy and was done in Deniliquin NSW. Not an ounce of bog in the whole car.
The sad fact is, even though the interceptor looks as tough as nails, it was probably the slowest car in the pit lane that day. There were so many immaculate lightweight racecars there presumably with brilliant power to weight ratio, that would have put me to shame. Lucky I was only there for my looks...Lol.
By the time we left in the afternoon, there was a fair amount of police presence on the Hume Hwy (it was a friday afternoon plus a winton car event) It just meant that we had to take the long way home via Beechworth. What a shame having to spend more time cruising through the hills in the car.
