i agree - thats why i like 15 inch, 60 or 65 profile. the suspension geometry on the old tin doesnt play well with 20 inch rims.

BUT it is a trend. its hard to find decent wide rubber in 14 and 15 inch these days.

Definitely getting harder to find the old chrome 14's and 15's. Matter of fact I was looking for a set of RWL tires for my Buick in either a 205/70r14 or 215/70r14. One of the places I called said, "We don't carry ANY raised letter tires in 14 inch sizes." Betcha they have 30 different tires for 18-20 inch rims!

I'm not against big wheels altogether, but they need to be a certain style to work on older cars. Personally the biggest I'd EVER attempt on an old car like that would 16's or 17's. That Charger to me looks God awful. Those rims look like something more for a Chrysler 300 than a classic muscle car. And the lexan/plexiglass bonnet looks like it belongs on an Integra/Supra/RX7 or some other rice rocket.

On the other side of the coin though, it's not my car. It's not my money. If it were, it would definitely end up different.

there is nothing worse than a standard looking 60's or 70's holden with the biggest, shiniest wheels just because the next guy has 'em.

I had a hard time getting matching tread pattern tyres on my 15 x 8 and 15 x 10's for my coupe. Im also having a really hard time finding a set of 15 x 7 ford pattern hotwire rims. no luck anywhere. a mate of mine went to 16's for the sole reason that rims and rubber were easier to get.

i think in oz we are lucky that the volume of us muscle cars means that we will always be able to access us made repros of 70/80's fat rubber. i swear i will never put chinese tyres on any of my cars.

best tyres i ever had were dunlop le mans a4's. excellent grip and lasted for years.

now, on how bad a car can look with the wrong wheeels i offer this example. i spoke to the owner and he said he only used the bling rims for car shows, real driving was on a set of 14's. on the bling rims the ride was unbearable.

The charger looks horrid because of those rims. Absolute waste of money and does nothing in terms of style.... yaark!
