Hi All,

Just an update and the switch over to this posting/message string. As mentioned in the other postings, I placed an order with SouthBeach Leather...at last post, I was still waiting. 10 days later, I sent an email, asking the status of my order and/or if they got the money order I sent. 2 days later I get the answer... they never seen it. I am beginning to think this is going to be an ordeal... They asked for some sort of mail number.. but I did not send it certified.. (for 5 bucks more...) but, come on, it's NY state... a few hundred miles north of here. I even told them in an email the day I dropped it in the box. I did a local.live map search and found the house it's going to... not a business. I really hope this works out, as it is a real PITA to cancel a money order and it will cost me more money to get my money back. A real shame. Buyers might want to beware... Luckily, I did a color scan of the completed money order, screenshot of the ebay order and even the envelope. I sent these images in an email... but, of course, no answer yet. Cross yer fingers. Anyway hope everyone else has a great holiday and new year. Cheers! Mike

involve the police my friend. It's considered mail fraud and taken very seriously by authorities these days, especially in the USA...for what it's worth I'd also put a stop payment on the money order as it'd be cheaper than the loss on the jacket

Well, they said they "got" it... I guess the message I sent them regarding a "stop payment" on the 24th, "motivated" them to find it. The return message said I should have it by the New Year. I really hope it was worth the wait... I wonder if they actually have the items here in the States, and if the long wait is really for it to arrive from overseas somewhere. Anyway, hopefully it gets here. I'll post pics when it does. Cheers and have a great Holiday! Mike

Update and the Finale... It got here. It came all the way from Pakistan. It was delivered in a DHL plastic bag, about 10 x 12 x 3. I was thinking how in the world an entire jacket was stuffed in there. The jacket itself appears to be made o.k., but it is very thin leather. The bad part is they use inferior quality zippers, because the third time I used the zipper, it pulled off in my fingers. The moving slider part of the zipper is white metal or something like that.... The fit was o.k. at XL, but I'm a little taller and have a bit bigger chest size, so it was tight across the shoulders in the back, but the arm length was perfect. So, I decided to try out their "custom sizing" offer. I asked about an XXL size with XL length arms (1" shorter). I figured this would make it perfect and take care of the zipper issue, as it had to go back anyway for an exchange. Well, they want it back in Pakistan for custom work....hmmm...o.k. .... I went to UPS place to check on shipping and almost fell over. 120.00 for UPS, and 75 USPS Priority (without tracing, mind you...). Forget it. Half again what I paid for it to replace defective zipper? WTF?? Anyway, I decided to try to negotiate... "How about an exchange in the US, at the NY address for standard XXL size jacket, without alterations?", I asked. They said they have no jackets in US, but he offered me 20 bucks to get the zipper fixed locally. So, I had to go to the local fabric store, and buy the bits to fix it myself. So I did. I learned how to fix a zipper anyway... This fixes the zipper, but the size is still somewhat of a problem. I guess it's bread and water till it fits.

The moral? ... Need I say it? ... Caveat Emptor? ... Would I do it again? ... No. Would I recommend them or their product to anyone else.... Depends... The jacket is nice. Is it worth 150.00? Yes and No. It would be good if you wanted a light weight jacket that is very close to the correct design. However, if it has a defect or needs exchanged, as in my case, good luck. However, if you get the correct size the first time and the zippers hold, it's not a bad deal, a bit light, but not a bad deal vs. the more expensive other version available. In the end, for my personal intended use, (A protective motorcycle jacket, thick enough for some protection in a spill....) I should have saved my pennies for the better model. Right now, I've got to lose about 10-20 lbs. to have it fit right. It's a real shame those folks don't keep a stock of some jackets here in the states for just this purpose. It would really make for happier customers.. and maybe some return customers. They are kinda slow to respond to emails and there appears to be a language barrier as well. I'll try to get some pics to post later on. If anyone is interested. Remember.... Caveat Emptor and Good Luck. Cheers, Mike

I'd still recommend the abbyshot jacket.

I thought the Abbey Shot jacket was no longer available? Hmmm. I guess they are making them again. The webpage seems to say they are temporarily out of basically 95% of people's sizes.

Good luck with it, and let the list know how it looks when you get it. Sounds like you got it for a good deal though. When my zipper/slider-pull gives up the ghost again, I'm going to look into a good quality all brass zipper, like a Talon or YKK. Cheers! Mike

I have just been informed that there is now a Roadwarrior jacket available from southbeach.

http://www.southbeachleather.com/mad-ma ... acke2.html

The shoulder pad is ridiculous (a flat flap of leather standing in for the soft padding) but I guess you can always ask them to leave it off. The sleeve has been cut off straight across, instead of leaving a nice long triangular bit to fold up and rivet to hold the red rag. The pockets are also way too high up on the jacket (much like the tabs were too high on the Mad Max 1 jacket).
Other than that, it actually looks decent overall.
