Humongous Revolver
Re: Humongous Revolver
Excellent. Thanks for those.
Re: Humongous Revolver
As sharp as those shots are, it's still not possible to make out the headstamp on the cartridges, but I'm gonna say it's either a scoped S&W Model 29 .44 MAG or Model 25-3 .45LC [cartridges are too fat to be .41 Mag] with an 8 3/8" BBL, and red ramp sights. I'm now leaning towards the 25-3 because of the fatness of the cartridges and the FMJ bullets. Since the Model 29 wasn't invented until 1955, and the Model 25-3 1977, it's unlikely that it could have been a WWI, or even WWII heirloom. The hammer is standard on N-Frame revolvers... in fact, my K-frame Model 19 .357 has the same hammer.
HUMVEE - I've punched holes in 1/4" plate steel with my 9 1/2" Super Redhawk [.44MAG]. It all depends on the load, bullet choice, and barrel length.
I've also punched holes in 1 1/2" plate with my .50BMG.

The Humongous should have had a Model .500.

That picture is too dark to say for sure, but no way do you have a Barrett. No way. My mental well being would be destroyed from envy if you own a Barret and I don't.
Holy crap you don't own a Barrett, do you?!?!
Now I'm seething with jealousy.
I was a machine gunner in the Marines, and one day after a .50 cal shoot the sniper guys came over asking if we had any left over ammo. We just broke up a bunch of the belts and they let us have a go with their Barretts. Damn was that great!
There is nothing like going to town with the M2, but the refined, single shots of the Barrett was a whole new world of fun.
By the way, we shot up an old semi truck (5 Ton) with the .50's, and the rounds went right through the engine block, the frame, the axels, everything. For all I know those rounds are still going. Its one thing to believe in the power of a .50, but its another thing altogether to actually see it happen.
Happy shooting,

I wish I owned a Barrett.
I have an LAR Grizzly single shot - the one Burt Gummer used in Tremors 2 to blast the critter [and the car behind it]. I adjusted the brightness of the photo so you can make it out. Here's another shot.

I figured being ex-military you've played with some fun toys. I'm retired USAF myself... I had to join the rifle/pistol team just to get some range time.
That's how it started... I bought civilian versions of all my issued competition arms, M9, M1911, AR15, and Ruger MKII Govt. Target, so I could practice on my own time. The first handgun I ever bought was a gift for my best friend's wedding... a cased Model 29 Classic Hunter, six rounds of ammo, and an FOID card. God that was a sweet gun!
Since then I've bought an AR10 .308, Sig P220 .45ACP, Desert Eagle .44MAG automatic, S&W Model 19 .357, Ruger Super Redhawk .44MAG, and inherited a bunch of old guns from my grandfather.
I've spent some time behind the wheel of a Humvee myself. They aren't built for tall people.
Check out this one... a S&W 460XVR. Nasty recoil. Note the cut on the index finger of my support hand... that was just from the cylinder gap flash.

Re: Humongous Revolver
I was at the local gun show last Saturday, mostly looking for a SxS shotgun like the one in the first movie.
No luck there, but I did spot a S&W model 629 with the ~8" barrel. Looked just like the one in the movie, no scope though. Had the box with a blue velvet (not red) similar to in the movie. Price was $625. It was labeled "old".
I was reading up and read that the 629 is supposed to be stainless steel, but the metal was all black, with the wood grip, just like the one in the movie.

Re: Humongous Revolver
I can id another object in Humungous revolver case.
In the second of cueballs photos in the upper left hand corner, that object is a match striker you fit them over a box of matches and strike your match on the metal. I know, because I have an identical one in design (no idea whats engraved on humungous one) myself.
Curious object to carry in a gun case.
