...My 1983 F-250 has one of the last non-injected 460's, from the factory it came with a Holley model 4180-c 4V rated at 390cfm... The maximum carb size on Bush Series Nascars is 390cfm and they produce 600 horses with 360 cubes at 11:1 comp....over-carbueration is a myth and a sickness..

..The seller of this particular Falcon just so happens to be the same bloke ( Michael Rennie ) thats on the Special Edition DVD extra clip sayin' it 's the same vin # they used in the filming...??? Is this at all possible ???... a museum addition if it is... We'll have to Incorporate the car... draw up papers and split it with 3 other investors, everybody gets an even 25% , no single point controlling , I'll babysit it on the boat home while we do a complete movie-correct makeover ( including color ) in the lower hold enroute, We'll make the first million off the filming of the makeover but should It be a Feature or a Pay TV release?.......it could happen.........

I've researched this car enough to be confident that it isn't the film car, which includes having researched who purchased / built / painted / etc this replica originally. The original owner (prior to Mick) was unfortunately a bit of a con artist, to the extent that he actually stole and sold off various film props from guys who worked on the film, who'd helped him build the replica in the first place. I have this information first hand from the people involved, some of whom worked on the film, and who have also certified that this is not the film car. These were some of the same people who possessed the evidence to confirm that Peter Nelson's interceptor IS in fact the genuine article when I researched that.
The easiest way to demonstrate that the car wasn't used in filming is just by using the facts of the build dates. From the VIN, 'SR' equates to 1976, February. As a police unit, you'd expect it would see a reasonable amount of service prior to being retired, particularly looking at the odometer (does anyone have the stats?). The 1994 Street Machine article (in the archives section, or follow the link below) implies that it saw police service until 1978 (although maybe they're just guessing the filming date, the article is a little vague on the facts).

Now, Mad Max began filming at the start of October 1977, and the cars were all purchased up to 12 months prior to this - they had to be build, painted, test driven, etc before filming began. This is why you'll find the black GT was a 1973 model and not a later year. So the build date alone make it highly improbable for this to have been the car.
The other useful information would be to obtain the registration history of the car (unfortunately in Australia, this is something that only the registered owner can do, so I do not have this). I know the name that all the film cars were originally purchased under and registered to, and this name will be present in the registration history for any of the original cars.
The unfortunate fact of this car is that it was built by someone to con people and make money (again, NOT Mick, the current owner), and because this person made such a good job of it back when it was more difficult to research the facts, the false assertion that it was the real car has persisted over the years (through articles like Street Machine), and has been reasonably hard to dispell. Having MGM state it as the original car in their DVD hasn't helped, especially when they knew better (I was there on the day that segment was filmed).
At the end of the day, if you had an original vehicle from the film(s), and could prove beyond all reasonable doubt that the vehicle was indeed original, you'd be able to command a decent price from professional collectors like Peter Nelson and the like. In my opinion for this car, the genuine article would fetch a higher price than 20K. That's the biggest heart break - that the original car is still out there somewhere (hopefully not written off or crushed like the other two), and no one knows where it is.

Thanks Peter, I know you are busy and the above post is what was needed. I respect everyone who makes a replica car from the movie, especially one of the quality being offered on ebay. They are very tricky and expensive and at the end of the day are a result of what the owner wants. What I can not tolerate are people who claim their cars are 100% accurate or WORSE originals.
Usually these claims are made by people trying to profit from wide eyed fans, it stinks. I am a wide eyed fan and love nothing better than spending time with other lunatic fans who just want to have fun yapping about the cars and the movie without trying to sell me something.
Some people have lost the joy of the movie and now see it as a way to generate extra income.
