Greetings. True, but mind you that movie came out after I was in Paris. Now, I've seen the lastest model every time I go to the Detroit Autoshow. Just the other day, I saw a V-12 Vanquish running down Michigan Ave. in flat black primer camouflage with manufacturer plates. Talk about mean looking.Quote: Originally posted by Mad::Matt on 16 July 2004

Greetings. Daily drivers...I AM driving my "dream car." It's a Dec.'73 Australian Ford Falcon XB coupe, driven 3-4 days a week. I have all of the parts outside of the blown V-8 to finish converting it into a "custom Interceptor." My other econo-car is a '04 PT used to drive to/from work and haul Falcon parts to/from Canada on ocassion.
As far as people not being into the "theme" of things...just hang around a little while longer...or read more of the older posts...then you will see just how whacked...I mean dedicated some of us fans are.

Hey - total respect for that XB Coupe - and Canada to Namibia is long haul.
Lets see what you guys are using to cut around town - in a Max fashion, reminiscent of the movies, in the spirit of the Max world.
Any takers - is it a case of replicas or nothing?
I can't belive we're all in Nissans...

Greetings. Since no one else is typing, I've REALLY been considering getting an older Ramcharger or an early 90's Dakota shortbed with the 360 and doing the Beyond Thunderdome thing to it...you know, add the Mickey Mudmashers, wheel flares, then cut the fenders, bed and hood to add integral racks along with the safari bar and winch (I could pick up the wench on 8 mi. later). I'd paint it primer black and let the dirt and Michigan rust put a patina on it. Keep the cab intact, but modify everything else. Put all of the tools on it like the British SAS Jeeps. We'll see...

Oh, come on, no one said anything about a 'budget'. Not until I said, "If you could afford one of these, you could have a genuine Falcon Interceptor, but it is the best British car for a replica in spirit."
"In spirit", ya see....it's got the shape, size, and the power.
I used to have a 73 Mustang coupe. A nice one, so I couldn't hack it up, but I liked that generation specifically because it has a bit of the early 70's Ford look that parallels the XB.
Now, there was this one work truck I had to drive.....79 Ford F250. No two body panels were the same color, no grill (at all. Just two square headlights and a heavy 'c'-beam welded on inplace of the bumper), bald tires, the exhaust stopped just past the seat, a four speed with a super low first (with a loaded truck I could beat a mid 80's Camaro across an intersection, but then I had to shift and would fall back. Unloaded, it would spin the tires for as long as you'd want). Even though it was a 79 (and only ten years old at the time), it so beat up that everytime we took it in to get it worked on, they would order parts for a 69. Driving it always reminded me of the red 'snake' F100 from Road Warrior.
I miss that truck....

Your right Detritus, the budget thing has crept into this thread along the way... I'm still thinking about what set of wheels I can do a Max thing with...
It's gotta be smaller (because this tiny country I live in, has too many drivers and not enough road, not to mention the parking), but definitely low and black with two doors and a boot (no hatchbacks permitted) and some speed under the pedal.
I am thinking of that Manta, the general shape is there, it would look cool covered in dust and dirt. There's still a few of them around over here and they can go for next to nothing.

Somewhere else is a link to a site called Weird cars. On one of the pages is a Hybrid Series Land Rover that has the big mudders and is painted OD with a lot of dirt. It's small and nimble, and looks really cool. Gas milage might be low because of the tires though. Petrol is what...3-5 Pounds a liter now?

Gotta be pushin UKP10 for a full zippo over here - Cheezus. Can't find the wierd wheels link in the discussion forum. That on the main site then? Anybody help on that?
One of these days I'll get up to Cars of the Stars an maybe that'll inspire me... to build a replica!

Mk. 1 Granada, preferably with the 3.0 V6.

I believe these, Granada Mk. 2, were used as actual police cars in the UK (white with flourescent orange side stripes, if I'm not mistaken), but could be a passable MFP sedan, again with a 3.0 V6:
