Mark, Eleanor was NOT a Mach 1. The DVD says she was, The Die cast says she was.... But she was just a normal 1973 Mustang Sportroof. (fastback) The differences are numerous: (aside from the obvious fact that she has no Mach-1 markings) Base hood (no Mach-1 scoops) Base interior (the most notable difference is the standard 2 spoke wheel) etc. Not your fault, everyone makes this mistake. Just a pet peeve of mine because I love the film so much. The Remastered film was a big letdown, though. Visually it's beautiful, but the removal of the (admittidly cheesy) original soundtrack just takes something special from the movie. The inserted music is generic computer rock that sounds lifted straight from a bad video game.

Now, that said, Ankle if you haven't seen the original Gone, well, you must. I have a (very rare) copy of the unmolested original. I can make you a copy if you're interested.

I think it is a Mach 1 and I can't find anywhere to suggest it isn't. Those cars came in a lot of different options/option deletes and configurations. The two spoke wheel is in both my cousin's '73 Mach 1 and my brother's '72 Mach 1. Do you know of anywhere that says it isn't a Mach? If it isn't, it would be a good peice of trivia.

Here's a pretty good Mustang source too: http://bradbarnett.net/mustangs/

Deletes aside, all had Mach-1 badging, which Eleanor lacks. Admittedly, I'm not a Mustang guru, though, so I'm uncertain as to what options went with what. I've never seen a Mach with zero Mach options though. (Steel wheels w/ dogdishes, base interior, flat hood, no spoiler, no badging etc.)

I do recall it being said that a standard car was used, but I can't for the life of me recall exactly where. I'll try and research this. (I'd like to know definitively. Till then though, I'm stickin' to my guns. No Mach-1.)

Aside from the patheic CGI, the Remake was pretty entertaining.

Were I to ever hit the lottery, I'd definately have an http://eleanormustangs.com/ in my collection.

(My Javelin's Restore/Upgrade & a BoB replica would come first, though.)

Ankle, I'd be glad to send you one. No charge, mate. I need to make a few copies anyway. I'm getting scared to play my copy much more, it's gettin pretty old. In the meantime, I'd still reccomend you rent the original on DVD ASAP. (you should be able to find it at your local Blockbuster / Hollywood video.) The soundtrack is sucky, but otherwise the quality is much higher than my VHS copy, and the DVD has lots of cool extras. The DVD box is the one Mark posted. I promise, you won't be dissapointed. Best, most intense chase ever put on film. (might even best the tanker chase in MM2!) plus the chase lasts 40 minutes. Nonstop crashin and bashin.

One major complaint I have about the original G.I.S.S...

NOBODY, not even Mandrian Pace can Horseshoe a Mustang around a telephone pole and DRIVE AWAY!

Jesus ANKLE, you should be telling US that '60 SECONDS' was a remake. shame on you son, you been 'i guess the CIA's got you bushin' do many bensils, and whats this f**king tie business'

Aside from the obvious MAD MAX V8 INTERCEPTOR, and MAX's Yellow INTERCEPTOR, and every other goddamn car in MAX 1 and 2.

I gotta go for

NATURAL BORN KILLERS - Mickey knox's - red 70' DODGE CHALLENGER RT convertable.

secondly METAL SKIN - Dazey's - CHRYSLER CHARGER, anyone who's seen this movie will know exactly what i'm on about - it is the angriest machine on the screen, and cause its 'half finished' (it is silver cause its been sanded back to metal to be repainted, and there are welding spots all over it where the gaurds and spoilers have been stuck on) it looks awesome.

who could forget the BANDIT's - BLACK TRANS AM. When i was a child, and dad hired movies for me, this car as well as the INTERCEPTOR were my dream cars.

I know its a pretty 'weak' kinda car, but they looked badarse in the movie - ROBOCOP's - TAURUS SHO., they were DETROITS answer to the BoB. , not made in anyway to be cosmetically good, though the flat black scratched look, is cool as sh*t. they kicked arse on the road. Read the NOVEL and they're praised even more.

BLACKROCK - an aussie movie pretty quiet, you yanks might not know about it - but theres a surfer in it who has a red SANDMAN PANEL VAN, that puts MAX's to shame, mainly caused its used, its kinda sunbleached from constant travelling, and its dirty, has cool Sunraysia's too.

FROM DUSK TILL DAWN - SETH and RICHIE's - MERCURY COUGER. f**king badarse, having a MAD MAX 2 'Dusty look' too helps.

TRAINING DAY - ALONZO's Black - CHEVY MONTE CARLO, gleaming and loud.

THE DARK HALF - GEORGE STARK's, black TORONADO, this thing gets thrown around the road hard, and it makes you wonder with the size of it, how the driver didn't 'lose it', its got a mean V8 growl too, even has the words HIGH TONED SON OF A BITCH' written along the back of it.

BLADE, and FAST AND THE FURIOUS - practically the same car, so both get the same vote, - the DODGE CHARGER, both black, though i kinda like BLADE's better.

THE CROW, T BIRD's - T BIRD, his red 'blown THUNDERBIRD is bad.

Now for the MISC. list, theres a bunch of cool cars in DAZED AND CONFUSED, a cool TRANS AM, and a bad CUDA. Also the SYLVESTER STALLONE movie COBRA - what the hell does he drive? I never did know, but its cool.
