Hire The Real Thing?
Hi,
I understand from the rare and very old e-mails that I got from Peter Nelson that this car would never be hired. He also said that its location in the display made it very difficult to remove it from the museum.
But things might have changed.
The Interceptor has not been started since it was installed into the museum, but I understand that it was started when in the car park.
I would be betting that the terms of the hire would be that it will a static display and not be started or driven.
Photos would for sure be very restricted in that he would not be wanting a series pf posters coming on the scene as a result of the hire.
I expect that the contract would be water tight.
I would also expect the 1500 UK pound price tag.
Get after it guys, get enough of you and it is still worth it.
If I were in the UK I would be chipping in.

Hire The Real Thing?
Gordon's right, last time I was at 'Cars of the Stars' (last August) a guy working there said she'd never be hired out (I jokingly asked!) and the next time she'd leave the premises would be to probably "go home"!!
He said she was still in running order but that she hadn't been started in a "long time" just looking at her you can tell she hasn't turned a wheel in ages. I can understand why they're so protective of it ...it's "the last of the V8 Interceptors"

I'm gonna hopefully visit Cars of the Stars in the next few months, I promised my nephew I'd take him to see Herbie!! He's only 3 so not ready for Max yet! but some day i'll sit him down and teach him about the Road Warrior....

they better move that sucka regularly, my dad left the body of an old, HQ in our backyard for about a year once, without moving it, and the damn wheels were so flat and square on the bottom, they were f**ked.

Wheels are the least of the problems, the cam & lifters will be well buggered by now & if they didn't drain the fuel from it the tank & lines will be full of jelly by now.
